Serious Golf Question. The Long Putter

I need a ruling on this one.

Here is what happened. We were having first golf game of 2010 and money is always involed. My putting game has always sucked. So, over the winter I switched to the long putter and practiced 2 hours a day for 3 months in my basement to work the kinks in my swing. So first hole today I whip out the long putter and these cats are . I sink a 16 footer on the first try. The quickly turns to . This becomes a trend all day. Now they want to rule that the club is illegal. I called BS because this tips the balance of power to me since putting was my weakest link. In fact I won 13 of the 18 holes today. We have only banned 2 clubs outright and both were putters. I feel long putters are legit, What does everyone else think?
I dont remember there names but they were allot of fun....

    Of course they are legit.

What is the reasoning for banning the other two putters? I feel like we are missing a part of this story.

I've never seen those. Did Rodney Dangerfield invent them?

Obviously though they are not approved for USGA play so (as mentioned) they should be banned). I don't see why a belly putter would fall in the same category.

Long putters are fine. Tell your boys to hit more fairways. I'm jealous that you're already able to golf..we've still got snow.

if they won't let it go, say its better for your back

An club approved by the USGA should be fine

Yeah, ever since we started getting 40 degree weather this past week, I've been hit hard with golf fever. I already got the membership paid for, I just want to golf lol

              But yeah, they're legal.

The issue seems to be anchoring a club to the body. Alot of pros want them banned led by Ernie Els of course and it seems to be 50/50 in general:

I plan too. I used it again today. Wish I switched 2 years ago. Lost alot of money because of that damn putter. Anybody thinking about making the switch, I highly reccommend it. It looks ugly but so what.
