NC State - I see more Olbermann bashing going on than Simmons bashing.

      Cat fight is right.

Olbermann is a douche, and I like Simmons.

        It's getting nasty.

The main result I want to see from this feud is the removal of Olbermann from SNF. Too bad this feud has nothing to do with that gig. Based on ratings from his TV show, it's pretty obvious nobody cares about Olbermann. The hits for his blog probably increased by %1000 by going after Simmons.

As for Simmons, I'm surprised there isn't a single picture of his wife on the internet (hurry up tmzsports.com). He also had a sorry excuse for why readers aren't allowed to leave comments after his columns.

There's no doubt he's the upcoming hottest sports media free agent. Love him or hate him, he's a 2 time best selling author, has one of the most popular podcasts out there, and drives a lot of traffic to espn.com

        Van,

When is Simmons becoming a FA?

From a recent podcast, I believe he said "10 months". That would be end of 2010 or so.

I think Simmons is looking forward to getting out of ESPN. He knows his readers/listeners will follow him and he'll get to be more creative. Or he gets to negotiate better terms in his next deal.

I've been a bit down on Simmons lately, but any enemy of Keith Olbermann's is a friend of mine.

              If not for this guy.....

KO would be the biggest douche bag alive. No one at ESPN ever liked him because of his holier than thou attitude because he went to Cornell. He is smart but thinks he is much smarter than he actually is, which is why he's not in the position of say John Stewart.

That said Bill Simmons is mere more than a lucky SOB. Honestly most of us on OS could do this job just as well. Hell we basically do on here, we just don't get paid for it.

He hasn't given the exact date but like what another poster said, people believe it's the end of this year. The contracts for Chris Berman and Erin Andrews also expire around the same time.

Despite being handcuffed by ESPN, I don't see Simmons leaving. ESPN is where he's going to reach the widdest audience and the company allows him to mostly work from home.

The TV gossip sites basically have said Chris Berman to the NFL-N is a done deal once his contract with ESPN is up (good riddance I say, his act was old in 1995 and he isn't a Bob Ley) and Erin Andrews is expected to move on to much bigger things, ala Robin Roberts.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

jmood-IMO there's no need to espouse on why he is an idiot, but if you do need clarification of that then simply watch him rant some time. and if you still disagree, ask yourself why is that everyone he attacks he refuses to debate and/or engage with? i'll tell you why, because he's too stupid to. I will give him credit though, he does know his limitations.

Why would they want him? He would only bring down the show he was on. NFLN is great because it's not ESPN, they don't need to bring on old, bad personalities.

To Joe Averagefan, Berman is an institution. He'd actually be a pretty good get for NFLN.

Just because he offers no insight doesn't mean people don't like him. A lot of people watch the NFL on Fox pregame show, for God's sakes.

I think the plan was to give him his own show, he does have a big name for the industry so he would bring ratings which last I knew the NFL-N was struggling to get.
