Pretty sure my PC just got a virus, what to do?

I have no idea what to do guys.

IE won't open, Firefox won't open, it says iTunes isn't there. Norton Antivirus failed me big time. I have no idea where to go from here.

I'm using my Mac laptop right now...guess what in having it 4 years without any antivirus thing I've never had an issue haha. Damn why'd I get a PC desktop!!!

Anyways...I would appreciate tips on what in the world I should do!

Do I need to contact Geek Squad or something like that? If it's gonna cost a grand to fix I'm just gonna go get another one...another Mac.

Do you get any kind of message when you try to open those programs?

iTunes: it says something about the application not being found
Firefox: asks me what program I want to open Firefox with. It gives IE as a choice but then when I click on it I am prompted to run a .exe file, which actually doesn't do anything and doesn't work.

It's not looking good!

I usually just reformat my computer when I get a virus.

run spybot search and destroy. Also run superantispyware. Both of these programs are free and helped me get rid of a few viruses. If these don't work you may have to reformat. Also ditch Norton and get Kaspersky.

My office computer has Norton - I HATE it. Hope you find the problem and get it solved! Cars used to be at the top of my can't stand list...computers are slowly taking the lead.

Wait a second I bought the Best Buy geeksquad warranty for 3 years so I think I'm just going to call them up. They can deal with it!

Once you get it fixed - uninstall Norton and install Avast!

And don't blame the PC, blame yourself; you went somewhere or clicked on something you shouldn't have. I've never had a virus in my 20 or so years of using a Windows based computer.

Yea I download music...probably due to that.

And I will blame the PC...never had any issues with my mac and I did a lot worse stuff...I was in college!

That's like blaming the street corner for getting an STD because in 5 years of using hookers on a different street you were clean.
