What is wrong with these people? They need to put cameras on the employees and fire them on the spot. You probably aren't getting paid a bunch, but you don't have a hard job.

In no way am I excusing some of the behavior in those complaints but I imagine certain behaviors by the patrons all day tend to have a very wearing effect after awhile.

If a toll operator has to count/document all unusual till activity, imagine the effect of getting over a thousand pennies a day to count at the end of your shift.

I've found in nearly every job I've had that the public thinks that each transaction/statment is unique when in all reality it's my hunderedth or so time doing/hearing it that day. A good example is in the summer, on my routes, when everybody I run into comments on the heat. It's innocent enough until after 8 hours in 100 degree weather the 50th person ask me "Is it hot enough for you?". I've never gone as far as the example above but I'm pretty sure I've been less than friendly.

I've never had an issue with any toll collectors in New Jersey but everytime I go home I go through a total of 5 tolls. I need to get an EZ pass.

If someone goes into a rage over a person trying to make small talk with them, they have a big-time problem.

dead-on...plus people shouldn't assume they don't make much. In toronto our subway employees make an average of around 72,000 a year and I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure over 20 of them make over a hundred grand!

...oh and guess what? many of them are pieces of dung!
