i stayed in the freakin bates motel in philly with a few friends (movie reference but it was horrid). i go to the holiday inn because it is the closest one to citizens bank park and the first room i go into smells of weed and all the phone lines were pulled out. the room they move me into next i got locked in the bathroom because the lock was jammed and the bath robe they supplied had a urine stain. But here is the kicker. i go to the bar/restaurant and sit down and a homosexual male asked me if i would like to come back to his room. I respectfully declined and soon checked out of the hotel after the game. i find it hilarious now as i think back on it

Re: Hotels
I've had a few good / bad experiences when travelling for work.
Worst: I was in a town for a 2 day course and i got my receptionist to book my accommodation for me which she usually doesn't do. She asked me where i would like to stay etc and i just said something along the lines of "just book me in somewhere close, i'm only there for one night so a cheap one is fine". Anyway she booked this small bed and breakfast type place and it was an absolute crap hole!
It was almost like a dorm with 6 rooms all sharing one shower / toilet and it just so happens that the 5 other rooms were being used by these crazy Indian exchange students. They all had the worst BO i had ever smelt and were singing all these songs and smoking tobacco out of these long pipes. The walls were also paper thin so i barely got any sleep that night because they were all up so late and the "reception" closed for good at 6pm so it's not like i could even contact them to complain if i wanted to. Anyway after about 4 hours of crappy sleep i wake up at 7 and go to use the bathroom and there is lineup of 3 of these Indian dudes all wanting to use the one bathroom.
I book all my own accommodation from now on.
Best: stayed at the Palazzo Versace on the Gold Coast one time. At the time it's cheapest room was something like $610 a night and it even had it's own "pillow expert" that came to your room with a huge trolley filled with heaps of different thickness pillows that you could try out and pick which ones you wanted. Luckily i didn't pay for it and it was prize through work but it was pretty amazing.

Re: Hotels
Just got back from the Marriott Riverfront Hotel in Savannah. We booked it with my Aunt's account since she's a platinum member and we got access to the concierge lounge and a free upgrade to the junior sweet. The room was $400 a night, but luckily we used points.
The bad part was my aunt snores like a pig, and I had an asthma attack in the middle of the night.Last edited by adice15; 03-30-2010, 02:33 PM.Follow me on Twitter: @ADice15Comment
