Well, IMO, the OP definitely cared and basically questioned the manliness of a large group of people on these boards, which is what drew the majority of the responses. The tone of the responses is going to be set by the tone of the OP, which was:

Am I the only person on this earth who thinks there should be a law against guys wearing flip flops in public? At the beach? Fine. In the privacy of your own home? I don't care what you do there. But I don't want to stare at your gnarly toes while I'm eating my lunch. Be a man, wear regular shoes.

You have to know when you use that tone in a post, it's going to get some strong opinions.

I imagine if a thread was created that said:

Be a Man, don't wear earrings
Be a Man, don't listen to country music
    Be a Man, don't drive a hybrid
Be a Man, don't wear ankle socks
Be a Man, don't wear long hair
    Be a Man, don't wear designer/boot cut/distressed jeans

I disagree with the OP. When it gets hot, I put on my filp flops or sandals. I would say it's nothing worse that a dude wearing flip flops with jacked up feet. Get a pedicure first.

In my "community" we typically (depends on region) don't wear open toed shoes unless

        A. Older male
        B. Of direct African decent
        C. The type of people the OP referenced to

I don't know too many sub-30 African American males that show their toes besides being on the beach.

It is different for other cultures.
        Concrete evidence/videos please

Probably the biggest key, right there. But that goes for almost everything dress related...types of shoes/pants/shirts/hats/watches, jewlery, etc.

It's funny, my father in law is white collar worker for a large corporation and has always dressed very professional. Suits to work, slacks out on the weekends, everything was always pressed, every shirt had a collar, he was always cleaned shaven, etc.

About 7 years ago he gets into Harley's and now it's rare that we see him on the weekend in anything but jeans, a black shirt, two to three days worth of beard growth and his boots on, even when he's not out riding.

I wear a suit and dress shoes all week. When I'm not at work I am as casual as I possibly can be. The comfort and convenience of flip flops or sandals are awesome. I don't care what other dudes wear and I don't care if they like what I wear. I'm all about being comfortable when I'm not at work and flip flops provide me the most comfort in the summer shoe department. Really pretty simple.

He probably was after his tumble down the steps. Using the real definition of moist (moistened) that is. assuming he spilled his beer on himself.

Strangely, I DO know a girl who absolutely cannot stand the word "moist". What's going on there?

Yeah my wife doesn't like it. And I'm not sure if I do either. Like I said earlier I would rather someone call me gay then moist lol.

But they don't hate moist as much as the forbidden four letter word..****.

                            What the C word?

The big difference is that one is a completely innocent word.

Yeah that word. I've known a lot of girls who flip out when someone calls them that or even hears it.

I know it is innocent but I don't know one girl who likes the word.

LOL growing up in Chicago I never heard anybody call somebody the C word. When I was in the suburbs of NC was the 1st time I heard somebody call somebody the C word. So that strictly has to be a certain demographic thing or maybe a racial thing I guess.

Because I never heard a puerto rican, dominican or black person call somebody the C word. You were straight called the B word.
