UPDATE - IT'S FIXED!! Or rather...REPLACED!! Friday morning they showed up to "fix" the A/C. They had told me it'd take about 4 hours. So I left at 9am for work, with them their working and figured i'd get a call about 1pm to either say it's done or to come home and show them out. So no call ever comes. I call them about 3pm and ask for an update, they say they'll call me back. They never do. I leave work about 4pm and head home, wondering what in the world is going on??

I arrive and go out back and realize that they have gotten rid of the A/C completely and there's a brand new, upright heat pump there instead. I think, ok, thats good. So I come inside and ask the guy what's going on, he says he's been there since 11:30 with the new unit and is about 90% done. So I let him go back to work. Finally about 5:30 he says he has to go pick up one last part that's defective and he'll be back in 20 minutes.

30 minutes goes by and he comes back with the part. Goes downstairs, comes up and says "sorry but I got the wrong part, i'll be back at 7am tomorrow". I tell him to call me in the morning as I may not hear the doorbell from the bedroom. Now at this point i'm thinking, this thing's NEVER gonna get fixed. So he leaves, my g/f comes over. We go to bed that night with my phone set to max volume sitting beside me. Wake up the next day about 10am without any call or anything. So I call the place, they said "Yeah we came out at 8:30am and no one answered the door" i'm thinking "ARGH WTF?". So they say they'll come right back out.

About 10:30am the guy shows up, says he has to replace the part, then put in the freon and it should take about an hour. I told him ok, do your thing, i'm going to lie down. Come get me when you're done. He says alright and goes to work. I retire to the cold bedroom and lie down. So I wake up about 3:30pm and once again i'm like "WTF is going on? he's not done yet??" and get up and walk out, all the doors are shut and it's a bit cooler than before. So I look at the thermostat and whereas before it was 83 it's not 77.

So I was a bit perplexed as to why he never woke me up or anything but at this point I'm thinking it looks to be fixed. And guess what, it gets colder and colder until finally it gets to 68 degrees, where it stayed the rest of the weekend. Thank goodness it finally was fixed. My girlfriend came back over on Sunday and I'm happy to say she and I both were freezing both Sunday and Monday in 68 degree coolness!!!

I happily dropped off the June rent check last night right before I went to bed. I wonder how much all of that ended up costing them. Anyone know what a new heat pump costs for both the unit and the installation charges?

yeah, that's what I said..FINALLY!!! it was crazy cold in there yesterday, i actually put on longjohns, LOL, i turned it back up a bit today, to 70 (it was on 68)....just wanted to make sure it was working properly and could get the place cold..and it does..

It sure could. Your AC isn't a Commando 8 is it? 12.000 BTU's of raw cooling power! Did the guy just sit it in the window and pull down the blinds like Kramer? Kramer: "Installed!"

HAHA, that was a great scene man. Did you know Kramer broke a rib or two when he ran towards the window to stop the A/C from falling out?? If you watch that scene you will see the pain in his face but he sticks with the scene like a trooper!
