    Coin Collecting Question

Alright so I got this map back in 99 for State Quarters and I haven't really used it since I've got it. So lately I've been bored and decided to attempt to collect all of the State Quarters. Mainly for when I become much older years from now they might become rare and valuable.

My first question is, were certain States only made in a certain year and are no longer being created today? I have looked at the Quarters I have so far and they all have the dates the year that State Quarter came out. All I really need is a confirmation about this.

So onto the actual question, how can I keep them in decent condition? I'm not looking for it to be a spotless perfection coin, but enough to hold it's value. This is the kind of map I'm using, it's literally the exact same thing with maybe different colors and a little different art on the edges.

Can the coins keep there value inside of those holes? Or will I need to buy something to to keep them from losing value.

    Re: Coin Collecting Question

    1. Yes, 5 states were released per year for 10 years and in limited quantities. They can all still be found in circulation as probably about 1/2 the quarters I get as change are state quarters. they range from pretty beat up to practically new in appearance though I imagine they could be cleaned up using metal polisher since its largely just dirt and oxidation.

    2. The map pictured in that link looks like the first one I had which ended up getting beat up (the cardboard had bent and warped and the back of some of the holes had torn out). You can probably still find them on amazon for a range of prices. As for maintaining their value, I only collected them for the sake of collecting them though I'd imagine you would just treat them the same way you treat any other collectible.

As an additional note for anyone else who may be collecting these and may know the answer. I had heard that in 2009 they were supposed to release 6 additional quarters for D.C., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Northern Marianas Islands. Pictures and release dates can be found on wikipedia (yeah, I know, not the greatest source), but I have never seen any of these quarters.

Yes they released 6 of them, but I haven't seen any of them. I'm also not looking though. You can look on the US Mint website for the images. They are now releasing national park quarters for each state.

I've seen the Puerto Rico coin once when I was buying a coke.

If the map is kept in good condition, will it hold the Quarters' value?
