Worst College In America: University of Bridgeport

The Worst Colleges in America | Edu in Review Blog

I couldn't find the 2010 list. Another thread got me thinking about this topic, here are some of the other worst schools.

Worst Ivy: Cornell (I thought Penn because the friends I had who went there said it was).

    Worst Military: VMI

Worst Trust Fund Baby School: Bennington College. Being from Vermont I can honestly say no one has much regard for this school and it certainly isn't on the level of Middlebury or St. Michael's.

Oh an apparently Bridgeport had the same honor in 2008.

I drive by Bridgeport almost every day, so funny seeing UB's billboards up and down 95. "UBelong at the University of Bridgeport."

BPT in itself is a major ****hole, a few years back they had the highest murder rate per square mile of any city in the country or some awful stat.

But they do have an amazing alumni to their credit...

Penn is about the cutoff of "Ivy because it's a top school" and "Ivy because it's in the conference."

      Harvard/Yale
      Princeton

      Columbia/Penn

      Dartmouth/Cornell/Brown

Wharton alone keeps Penn from the discussion of the worst.

Ironic? The guy that was just arrested for trying and failing miserably to blow up that van or whatever in NYC graduated from Bridgeport.

You can really flip a coin.

The SEC as a whole isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be.

                      Vandy is easily the best

Florida and UGA are both in the second level of top public schools behind Cal, Michigan, and UVA but both are top 20 public schools.

Auburn and Alabama are both top 100 and Tennessee hovers around 100

LSU, Kentucky, Arkansas, and USCe are about top 125

Mistake and Ole Miss suck though.

The SEC isn't good academically compared to the ACC, Big 10, or PAC 10, but 5 of the top 6 sports programs are solid enough public schools. Then again, "academic" sports conferences have to be the biggest joke of all time. I received no benefit at UMD by have Duke, UVA, or UNC in the conference.

Yeah, Vandy is the best. LOL thats why they have the worst athletes---you actually have to be smart to go there and they dont let alot of things slide like the other SEC schools do.

UGA is tough to get into.

I have a friend that went to Arkansas and he said the school is HORRIBLE. He went for business and said the business school there wasnt very great.

Aside from Vandy none of the SEC is tough to get in to.

You should be a lock at UGA/UF with a 1300 SAT which is mediocre for going to a #25-50 school.

Really? I thought it was a decent business school just because of contributions from the Walton family.

The Hope Scholarship has made admissions quite a bit tougher at UGA, but it still isn't ridiculously tough.

The school that is really ridiculous to get into now is Texas, though. They have to admit the top 10% from every hs in Texas. I might apply there, but I would have about the same chance of being admitted there as I would at Cornell or Emory. Hell, I even have a much larger chance of being admitted to Michigan than Texas.

Yeah, that's not even close to true.

Texas and UGA are very difficult to get into relative to other public schools in the south, but that has a lot more to do with the sorry state of education in the south than how great Texas and UGA are.

Your last two sentences are completely laughable. Those schools are so much better than Texas that on their 25/75 splits on SAT scores, their 25th percentile scores are almost as high as UT's 75th percentile. UT's average SAT score is roughly 1220. The average score at Cornell was 1420. Obviously the out of state admissions for Texas are going to be above their average, but it shouldn't be anywhere near that much.

Texas may be selective relative to the people who apply, but the people who apply to Texas aren't the cream of the intellectual crop.
