This might be a tool for parents more than anything. If I had a kid and they were skipping classes I pay for then hell yes they are getting disciplined and if it continues they are getting cut off.

Public schools aren't allowed to give parents information without the kid's consent.

I don't know how they get around it.

I think it's called the Buckley Law. Maybe it doesn't apply to Community Colleges (don't know why that would be)?

If you go to a public school then you probably signed your rights away.

I didn't really care so I set up a profile for my mother so she could see my grades but if for whatever reason I didn't want to I didn't have to.

I am in CC right now, after the 6th absence they say they can drop you from the class completely. Not sure if they legally could though.

I always thought it was dumb to even take it, if you can you pass without ever showing up you shouldn't have to.

My Community College said this as well. One of the first things mentioned in my English class. For some reason I think its loosely applied around there.

I took a few community college courses while up in Rhode Island and the classes were a joke. They were easier then my 9th grade basic history, biology, and english courses. And that CC also had a rule where if you missed more then THREE classes your grade was dropped one letter grade. More then 5 you were dropped from the class.

So I had to sit through those pointless classes for nothing. I could of took all the final exams and passed them with ease without attending one class.

I read it as public high schools not public colleges
