    Bend, OR

    hello all,

I am moving to Bend, OR for a new job next week and I know very little about it. if anyone is from central Oregon or familliar with the area; can you please tell me about it or suggest things to do there? I am coming from Columbus, OH and I have lived in Ohio my entire life. Thanks in advance for the responses.

P.S. Any mom and pop stores there to get NCAA early (PM me with answers to this)? Thanks!

Cool, I thought it said "Bend, Or." Meaning Bend or something else.

I've been there a few times and have some friends from up there. Great place to live, congrats on the move. Imo, a huge upgrade over Columbus.

FYI, however, there is a large hippee population out there.

Thanks for the reply. My wife and I went there a few weeks ago and we thought it was just gorgeous. It seems so beautiful, but my view as a mid-westerner who never gets to see mountains could be a bit skewed.

Good luck with your move. I love Ohio but have always wanted to live out west for a little bit or more..lol

I would love to visit Colorado, Utah, and Oregon.

If I couldn't live on the beach, I would live in the mountains. Pacific Northwest is as pretty a part of the country as you will find.

Welcome to Oregon. I've never been to Bend though. Will you be following the Trail Blazers?

northwest is beautiful because it hasn't been heavily populated and polluted like the west, midwest, south and east parts of the US has.

It is one of the few states that is still pretty much the way it was when it was 1st settled, untouched. Vermont is like that too, along with upper NY and western half of Mass.

Welcome to Oregon!!! Bend is an awesome place to live. You are quite lucky, man! It's beautiful up there. Winters can be kinda rough though. Completely worth it, trust it. Very wild in the woods. Cougars roam...

Just think as if you'll be living in Red Dead Redemption. Except less bear fights.

I am on my way out there right now. Glad there are so many positive responses. As for rooting for the Blazers, I have no idea. I still follow the NBA, but not nearly as much as I did back in the 90s.Time will tell.

                      also; cougars, SERIOUSLY??

I hate Oregon and it's weather, but it's not a bad place to visit.
