    truck question

I am in the market for a new truck, just looking online right now. Haven't gone to a dealership. Waiting for parents to help me with getting the financials right and blah blah.

I know nothing about cars. My question is, what does it mean by work truck? http://www.carmax.com/enUS/view-car/...a-c18077581177

I am going for the newer style silverado extended cab. But all the ones under 20k on carmax at least are "work trucks"

I believe its the less expensive version of the model, the extended bed also is something construction or other companies seek to haul more.

Yeah, it's usually the base-base model.

I think with the Silverado's, it's the LS. It's more of a work grade truck. Everything is super basic. The seats are probably more of a heavy duty canvas type material than a soft cloth. 60/40 bench up front instead of bucket seats and the center console that flips down in the middle is of a really hard plastic instead of topped with leather (if I recall, I think the console is even open on top). Even the doors are trimmed out with a cheaper looking plastic, than the wood grain or mid-grade plastic they put on the LT's. Even on the front, the bumper, I think is different. One is stell vs. the other being the body color.

I was in the market for a Silverado a little while after the new ones came in and saw one advertised in the news paper by the dealer at a super low price and when I came in to the dealership, this is pretty much what they showed me.

The inside probably looks like this one:

(If you see what I mean about the console), though this one looks to have bucket seats.

Yeah work truck is bare bones. Stuff that a real man would care about. Powerful engine, long bed in the back.

Where as the street model truck or family truck, would have a shorter bed, more likely with a lid on the bed. Leather seats, shiny dashboard, gps system, less poiwerful engine that is more fuel effiecent.

Interesting, guess it's the difference in markets then.

At least in Texas, GMC has always been more expensive than Chevy's even though they look exactly the same.
