Why do people judge you on what you drink?

I just saw a mikes hard lemonade commercial (which are always funny IMO) and it got me thinking.

If I were to go out to a restaurant and order a Mike's Hard or a margarita would I get a funny look? Or would people make a comment?
Why is that?

I actually think they taste pretty good on a nice hot day at the beach or the pool.
Am I gonna drink them to get drunk or something? No.

But I always wondered this.
Another thing, At my work we have a special on MGD 64, 2 bucks for a 23 oz draft. That is a good price and I order that when im off cause its 2 freaking dollars.

But If I offer it as a special to a group of guys, they just laugh and say "well now we know why its the special"

Its not the best tasting beer either, but I can only imagine if one guy ordered it in front of a bunch of his friends.

Am I just crazy?

I enjoy a nice fruity drink every once in a while. I mean if I am at the lake, beach, somewhere hot and I am relaxing and someone is making up some daquiris or margaritas I am gonna drink it.

Now out at the bar with your friends, that is a little weird if you are ordering them.

MGD 64, I don't see why they would say anything about that. It's a normal beer, couldn't taste any worst then bud light or coors.

I always find it funny that people are so insecure that they alter their own style, likes, preferences, etc. out of some perceived judgment by another person, friend or not.

As for Mike's Hard Lemonade.... ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha you drink Mike's Hard Lemonade (See there's no cool precedent set like Jimmy Buffett associated w/ Mike's Hard Lemonade).

Ditto. In todays society people seem to judge others on the most trivial details. I don't drink alcoholic beverages because they taste awful to me, so what will people think of me because of that?!

Drink whatever you want. Usually when I am drinking at home, it is cheap vodka or whiskey. When out it is whatever is on special. My friends consider me more of an "experienced" or "manly" drinker but I have told most of them before, if it weren't for their cost, I would be drinking all sorts of women drinks. I love margaritas and daiquiris, they are just too expensive.

Drink whatever you want, I would be putting those two dollar MGD's down.

Like others have said people will judge you for any decision you will ever make. If you want to drink a Mike Hard's someone will judge you. A Bud Light? Yep someone will judge you. A Vodka & Cran? You guessed it, I realized a long time ago no matter what I will do someone will judge me for it. So why not do what makes you happy and screw everyone else. I'm not an insecure person at all and I feel like it's one my best qualities.

Why should I drink something I don't like just to confine to someone elses norms?
