Re: Social Darwinism Example #53: Vodka Eyeballing

Kids these days don't "party" like we used to, even those of us who are in our late 20's and early 30's. We used to do it for the buzz, the high, the drunk, the party, the feeling, the sex, the sensation. They do it for self-destruction. There aren't any other valid explanations that I can think of.
Acts 2:38. Let the truth be told.
John 4:23. He is seeking a seeker.
John 3:20. Say no to normal.

Kids still do it to get drunk, they do not do it to hurt themselves, trust me. There just weren't websites 10 years ago to post videos of all the stupid things people did.

I don't think anyone was doing eyeball vodka 10 years ago. I think the difference is now that the kids just want to have their 15 seconds of youtube fame. Would anyone really be doing this if it wasn't being recorded? Maybe. But I'll bet having it put to Youtube is a huge motivator for people to do and other crazy stuff, something that wasnt' there even 5 years ago, let alone 10 or 20.

Myself I would be embarrassed if my 15 minutes came from pouring vodka into my eye while a group of other barely functioning bipedal primates cheered me on. I say this at 31, and I confidently say I would have said the same between the ages of 18-22 as well.

Ditto for me MassNole, but then I always thought the punching another guy in the arm thing in high school and things like that were pretty stupid too and I know I was in the minority there...

I think you misunderstood a little. Kids don't drink thinking, "I'm gonna drink tonight until I die!", or, "I'm gonna try to OD on Xanax tonight!" Self-destructive behavior comes from the subconscious drive to push the limit as far as you possibly can, putting yourself in a position to risk your health and safety over and over. Self-destructive behavior usually comes from deep, intense, and unresolved emotional pain, conflict, grief, or trauma, and is shown in more behavioral ways than just drinking.

The divorce rate, rate of physical and sexual abuse, murder and aggravated crime rate, gang activity, drug use and manufacturing, etc. are all influences of this. If you think that these things were as common 10 or 20 years ago as they are now, you don't live in the same world as I do.

How in the hell is he not flipping around like a fish screaming at the top of his lungs. I throw fits when soap gets in my eyes sometimes but, it's mostly cussin' and not screaming.

                I think It's water.

And no. I only take shots of Patron through my ears. That's how I roll.

                    Haha, truth!

I was washing my face in the shower the other day with some kind of face wash and proceeding to poke my eye in my hung over state. I wanted to cry it hurt so bad. Haha.

I also have bad allergies and tend to rub my eyes a lot. I can't tell you how many times I have bufallo wing sauced my eyes.

I can only imagine how Vodka may feel.
