You guys ever watch on these shows where they keep harping on how important it is to SLOWLY dehoard their home?

That amazes me more than the actual hoarding itself. That they'll flip if order is restored too quickly.

I dont get it, how is it "hoarding"? we used to bust my sisters chops and called her a "hoarder" like she would keep everything, xmas cards, money,etc. If she got a pack of gum, she would eat a piece then hoard it away. If my sister ate Pizza, or drank a slurpee or something, she wouldnt feel inclined to "save the pizza box or slurpee container" on the floor in the middle of her room, she would throw it out. and the things she did "hoard" she would like hide it, as if it were like a treasure or something.

These people are just slobs. I mean, now a day I get that there is a medical term for everything, and anything "not normal" is a "condition", but come on man. These people are just lazy slobs that dont clean up after themselves right? I mean did I miss something and there is something scientific going on that makes people keep slurpee cups and pizza boxes piling up all over their life?

Renegade44 - I have said the same thing before and people get all "oh no, there are mental issues here". To me there definitely are hoarders and then there are just lazy slobs. On the show Hoarders I'd say about 70% are Hoarders but about 30% are just lazy slobs. I mean we've all hoarded at some point I think so we can relate to what it is, it's not about saving a pizza box, it's about saving the toy that came with the pizza, even if it's useless junk.

I think this is all just PC hogwash if you ask me. This ain't hoarding, it's just being a filthy, little, lazy piggy.

Just so you know more people live like this than you could imagine. To this extent? No way but people live in cramped areas with no luxuries and straight up poverty.

It's an eye opener for sure and makes you appreciate what you have.

stewaat, you say that as if this is somehow bestowed upon the person who is just forced to live that way. Poverty and this are not synonymous. I grew up in a family with very little money and a somewhat messy house but this is way beyond poverty. This is a lifestyle choice. You can be dirt poor and have no luxuries and not live like a filthy little pig.

I agree it's disgusting but a lot of people who live in poverty eat fast food all the time. My sister and her boyfriend only work part time and have zero money but they eat out constantly at Burger King, McDonalds. And they get pizza about 3 or 4 times a week so neither of their lazy butts have to cook for their 5 kids.

It's cheaper to order a double cheeseburger off the dollar menu than to eat a salad. That's a big problem in our country.
