A lottery player voided a ticket that would have been worth $30 mill

    I would be so sick...

A lottery player in Newfoundland voided a ticket that would have been worth $30 million.

A person purchased a Lotto Max ticket that contained the winning numbers for the $30-million May 31 jackpot but then had the retailer void the ticket, Atlantic Lottery Corp. spokeswoman Jennifer Dalton told QMI Agency.

It's a little disappointing even for the lottery corporation, Dalton said.

"It would've been a huge celebration," she said.

The lottery corporation reviews the numbers on all tickets after a draw ‹ including those that have been voided, Dalton said.

It was only during the regular review that the corporation discovered the winning combination was on a ticket purchased at a convenience store in Goulds, Nfld., south of St. John's. But because the ticket was voided, it's not actually considered a winner, Dalton said.

The lottery corporation doesn't know why the player decided to void the ticket after it was printed, Dalton said. But voids are not uncommon, she said. About 52,000 tickets a month are cancelled after being printed.

Without a winner, the $30 million has rolled over into Friday's $50-million jackpot.

        - You design your Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit.
        - The mosquitoes have landing lights.
        - You have more miles on your snowblower than your car.
        - You have 10 favourite recipes for bottled moose.
        - Canadian Tire on any Saturday is busier than the toy stores at Christmas.
        - You live in a house that has no front step, yet the door is one meter above the ground.
        - You've taken your kids trick-or-treating in a blizzard.
        - Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled in with snow.
        - You think sexy lingerie is tube-socks and a flannel nightie with only 8 buttons.
        - You owe more money on your snowmobile than your car.
        - The local paper covers national and international headlines on 1/4 page, but requires 6 pages for local softball scores.
        - At least twice a year, the kitchen doubles as a meat processing plant.
        - The most effective mosquito repellent is a shotgun.
        - Your snowblower gets stuck on the roof.
        - You think the start of salmon fishing season is a national holiday.
        - You frequently clean grease off your barbeque so the bears won't prowl on your deck.
        - You know which leaves make good toilet paper.

about 30,000,000 times is just about right.

who voids a lottery ticket? had to be the worse player of kid games growing up...freeze tag, hide and go seek, green light-red light.

I'm guessing he picks his numbers and the clerk made a mistake, so he voided it and got his correct "lucky" numbers.

Why void a ticket after it's printed though?

Yeah, beacuse you still already paid for it right? Or if it's voided do you not have to pay for it?

lol odogg, why would you have to pay for it if you get it voided? Thats the whole reason you get it voided

as someone said before, the cashier probably made a mistake, entered the wrong numbers, printed an extra ticket, etc. Of course, any good gambler knows that those are the tickets you want; the "mistake" tickets are a sign from beyond and it is crazy not to take them.

I know about a month ago someone won one of the big lotto jackpots when the cashier printed up an extra couple tickets by accident to the guy next in line decided to take them instead
