I believe alien's will find us before we find them.

And I believe we will find nothing in the next 50 years.

Oh yeah, I agree there 100%. 50 years? No way.

I think you'd be surprised how much different the world will be in 50 years

based on the rate of growing technological capabilities, I'm willing to bet we can't even imagine some of the things that will exist in 50 years. I mean, look at the last century, and how different the late 1800's were to 1950... Then look at how different 1960 is to today

I mean, just looking at something like the state of the internet or cell phones, thats a crazy concept to someone in the 60's

in 50 years i'd be shocked if we hadn't found life outside of earth (as others have stated, obviously not intelligent life, but life nonetheless)

Sure. Yet if you went back to 1970 and told people that there wouldn't be a manned mission to Mars even planned within the next 40 years, they wouldn't believe you for a second.

Hell, if you went back 6 months ago and told people that there'd be a massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in April, but it would continue gushing unchecked 6 weeks later because the US didn't have the technological capacity and/or the political will to stop or even slow it, they wouldn't believe you. I know I wouldn't.

I would be shocked. You're assuming that life currently exists somewhere on Mars, Titan, or Europa (to name the three planetoids thought most likely able to support life). That's a gigantic assumption to say the least. And if there is no extraterrestrial life within our solar system, it's pretty damned unlikely we're ever going to find it.

You're also assuming that there will be the political willpower and funding sufficient to pay for technical advances that will allow a probe to fly to Europa and either drill through 10 miles of ice or scan for microscopic lifeforms from hundreds or thousands of miles away. The US government reached the moon by devoting over 5% of the federal budget to NASA in the mid-60s. It currently stands at 0.52% and is declining every year.

It'd be awesome if solid proof of extraterrestrial life was found within my lifetime. No way I'm betting on it, however.

weren't there like fossils of bacteria or something in meteors? I thought they proved that at one point there was life somewhere else? no? IDK i swore they had some type of fossils that were believed to be extra terrestrial. Not like dinosaurs, like microscopic stuff.

Sorry for the late response. What would surprise me if it turned out to be INTELLIGENT life. (at least in our solar system)
