I think every sport is better live. Surprised a few people said they'd rather football on TV, that's where there's the biggest difference between live and tv imo. You can see the plays develop in a way you don't see on TV. Plus its the sport with tailgating if your into that, and nfl games and major college teams always have a great atmosphere. I love basketball live but if you have really bad seats it can be tough. Baseball I do prefer some things about it on tv, but in the end the atmosphere wins out.

Re: Does anybody actually prefer watching sporting events on TV?
Depends on the sport and if it's the post season or regular season. I will go to 2-3 Mavericks regular season games, but during the playoffs I will go to usually 1 of the first 2 home games, then any game 6s or 7s that are home. I even almost drove down to San Antonio for a Friday night playoff game this year.
It also depends on the seats, I won't even go for free if I know the seats are gonna be terrible. I sit in the nosebleeds at mavs games, but they are court side and you can see everything fine.Last edited by SuperBowlNachos; 06-13-2010, 11:28 AM.Comment

Re: Does anybody actually prefer watching sporting events on TV?
For baseball, no I rather be at the park.
For football, rather have TV. The constant of getting up for people to go do whatever got really, really annoying before the end of the 1st quarter.Aaron

Provided you have good seats, basketball is almost always better live.
Love going to college football games, but prefer watching them in HD at home now. Cheaper (food, gas, time) plus you get to see good replays of close calls. And it is hot as h3ll in columbia for those early home games.Comment

Re: Does anybody actually prefer watching sporting events on TV?
Depends what sport it is. College hockey = must be there. The arena is arguably the nicest in the country and the atmosphere is unmatched here(University of North Dakota). You can't capture that on TV(and being a current student = much cheaper tix)Watching it on TV is lame.
Football, take it or leave it. I prefer TV, but I'll go to some games here and there.
Pretty much the same for all other sports.Huskers | Chelsea FC | Minnesota United | OmahaComment

Re: Does anybody actually prefer watching sporting events on TV?
This for the most part.
Baseball is 100 times better live.
Big college football and basketball games are awesome live. Duke/UMD and Auburn/LSU and Auburn/Florida when I was there were amazing.
UMD/Rutgers football and Auburn/Ole Miss basketball? Not so much.
Pro sports other than baseball are meh. I'll take tickets if someone gives them to me but I won't go out of my way to go to them.Comment

Re: Does anybody actually prefer watching sporting events on TV?
It depends on the sport. Baseball is way better live but football gets a lot better view on TV. However games are a lot more exciting live but I don't go to that many because of TV's better viewComment

Re: Does anybody actually prefer watching sporting events on TV?
I enjoy Minor League Baseball in person b/c the things that ruin the pro sports experience (cost, crowd size, poor behavior, etc.) is pretty much non existant...
I usually turn down free tickets to the NFL, b/c it's the got worst offenders on the afformentioned negative points...
College sports have great atmosphere, but I'm from the era when you were allowed to enjoy a couple beers with the experience, and that hasn't been the case for years...
Boxing and MMA are great live, if you're up really close...
But for the most part:
I'm on the couch, with no line for refreshments or the facilities...Comment

Re: Does anybody actually prefer watching sporting events on TV?
This may be a little off topic but when you go to a Football game, is it just me or does the field look so damn small?
To answer the question, I'd perfer going to Football games live because I like the view better. I can't answer for really any other sport besides Hockey. And the only game I ever have gone to was Game 6 Predators Vs Blackhawks in Nashville and boy was that a blast despite getting eliminated in the playoffs.Comment

Re: Does anybody actually prefer watching sporting events on TV?
This.
Maybe when your favorite Pitcher is starting or one of your favorite Hitters is coming to plate but for the most part, me personally I find Baseball games almost as entertaining as watching Ants crawl in/out of the ground.Baseball is 100 times better live.#RespectTheCultureComment
