Has anyone ever worked at a hotel?
I just got hired at a Best Western. Not sure what to expect. 3 days a week I will be on the front desk, 2 days a week I am in charge of the breakfast bar. $8 an hour and should be working 36 hours a week. Would love to make more, but not bad for me.Tags: None -
Re: Has anyone ever worked at a hotel?
I haven't, but I know people who have and I stay in a hotel usually 150+ nights. If you are working mornings, be ready to talk with people checking out and having to fix their bills. You aren't in a big chain hotel, so you won't have to deal with people having their reservations cancelled because people like me need a room.
The breakfast bar should be easy, just put out more food. It is usually just fruit, yogurt, cereal. -

Re: Has anyone ever worked at a hotel?
Luckily graduation season is over. Every person I have told that I got hired as said along the lines of "do people even stay there the parking lot is always empty". Unfortunately my town host state softball tournaments every 2 weekends. They better not care that I eat while I put out food eitherComment

Kind of. I work at a resort, but I work at a restaurant there not at the front desk.Last edited by cubsfan203; 06-15-2010, 09:06 PM.Fan of....

I worked at one but I was setting up events and banquets so I can't really help you. I do second the walk of shame notion though.Comment

With any people service oriented job, just prepare for your fair share of butt wipes and jerks who think they better then jesus himself customers every now and then.Comment

Re: Has anyone ever worked at a hotel?
I wonder what kind of discount I get. I wouldn't mind booking myself a room away from everyone else and having a few friends over haha. I think during the week maybe 3% of the rooms are used.Comment

Re: Has anyone ever worked at a hotel?
I loved that damn job. They paid me a flat 8 hours every night even if I only worked a couple of hours. Which happened all the time since it was a airport and I mainly set up meeting rooms during the week. Then I could either go home or hang around and flirt with all the night shift girls (who were all pretty much single because of their work schedule).
Awesome times back then.Comment
