I agree. Have you noticed any changes in her grades at school? If she is texting that frequently, she can't get that much study time/homework done.

      Re: Texting Record

The one thing I hate most about text messaging is when you call someone and they don't answer and then like a minute later you get a text message saying What's Up. I never respond back to those even if it's important.

And yet another reason I hate text messaging. I work for my dads company but for a different guy. Now two of my friends work under my dad and they are back for the summer. I can see him in the building and yet I just received a text telling me the days my friends work and let them know. Now my dad texts me like 1 a month which I don't like to begin with haha. But he could have just walked over here to let me know.

Look, I'm not saying texting should take the place of talking but I like the brief concise back and forth nature of texting.

Some conversations become one sided monologues or people drone on and on about things you already know/have heard. Texting is self editing. Most people won't pontificate in a text and if they do...you can choose to skim it instead.

          E-mail > all

I love e-mail for almost every discussion because everyone can say exactly what they want how they want. I'm one of those who uses e-mail as a legitimate form of communication... mine are never filled with abbreviations and interweb slang, so it's my go-to for business interactions and I wish it would be my go-to for most personal interactions too. I hate the phone so much.

Texting is okay, and I prefer it to talking on the phone, especially for quick messages. But I just really need a phone that has a QWERTY or something, because it annoys me to no end to send out texts with wrong words that I didn't catch and change. that's my gripe with texts... sending them annoys me. If I had a smartphone, I'd probably never talk on the actual phone except to my mom and people who don't text.

That's crazy. Seems like some people would rather text than actually talk. Actually had a fight at my school that was organized via texting while in class. I confiscated 4 phones and a ipod touch this year.

                  Re: Texting Record

People have a lot to say but don't ever communicate. It's just like my mom and I. The other day I told her I emailed/texted her about stuff and never hear back from her. She said, but I email you far more than you do me! I said, yeah but all you send me are 20 joke emails a day. That's communication???

I'd like just once for people to listen and communicate instead of just making noise which is what seems like passes for communication nowadays.

I would be more worried than shocked. Ban her from her phone and go tell her to go out for a sport or something.

I hate people that break up with you over text...Like are you freaking kidding me?

I would personally ground her from texting for a while... there is zero reason for any child to be spending THAT much time on the phone, regardless of their age.
