Re: OS Running Thread
I just finished up a 5k as well, new best 23:21. I ran my first one in a couple years this past July and got 27:40, and have improved in each of the 3 I've run since then (25:15 in Nov, 23:41 in Dec, and now 23:21). I really haven't done a ton of cardio either, most of the improvement is just from being in overall better shape.
based on your pics you posted in the other thread rockindamike, you're gonna be on my heals in a couple months if you keep up the fitness dedication... I wanna see it!Comment

Re: OS Running Thread
Six weeks to go until marathon time, just ran my first 20 of the program. I've been running to work a lot and saving my bike so it doesn't get destroyed during the winter. The mileage definitely piles up that way and it is great running home and not having to go back out and train. Looking to peak at 70 miles in a couple weeks then taper time. Thank goodness for that.Comment

Ran a 2:44:58 in Barcelona yesterday for a new PB. Perfect day on a super flat course really helped.Comment

I ran 15 miles (8:30 pace) on Saturday and have a half-marathon in two weeks. Looking to beat my personal best of 1:39:43 (7:37 pace).Comment

Re: OS Running Thread
Tough day for the running community. Hoping we eventually can purchase running items (Arm warmers, headbands, etc.) and have the proceeds go to the families affected from this tragedy.

Re: OS Running Thread
My buddy and old training partner ran Boston yesterday. He was ahead of all the chaos but described the whole ordeal to be just that. I would proudly contribute to Kev's idea.Comment

Re: OS Running Thread
I am assuming it will have it come from Addidas considering they create the official gear for the event.
Just signed up for a half-marathon in Wisconsin on May 4th. If they don't come up with any gear, I will probably write something on the back of my legs to honor the victims.
Still trying to break that 1:39 PR!Comment

I also agree running attire with benefits going to the families of those involved in Boston would be a great idea and probably is already in the works.
I highly recommend Hal Higdon for looking into training programs. It has always been difficult for me to just 'go for a run' so I tend to always be following a program to give me some focused training. Hal is great for getting started at that.

Re: OS Running Thread
Second Macho's statement, I started off with Nike+ and never felt it was entirely accurate. The Garmin watch is my best friend hahaComment

Re: OS Running Thread
Hmm ... I've used Nike+ for years and for me it has been very accurate. I use it during races too and the times are usually spot-on or off maybe 1-2 seconds (depending on when I press the start button compared with when I cross the start line).Currently Playing:
