Half-marathon in the morning, looks like 70% rain throughout and 47 degrees. Much rather have those conditions than the possibility of 80 degrees and humid.
Ran my first hm of the season a couple of weeks ago and finished in 1:57. Course was extremely difficult, with hills everywhere in the second half-plus 20 mph winds the entire time.
Hopefully it everything goes right I should have a time around 1:52 tomorrow.Comment

Cool thread. I recently ran the Paris Marathon with my wife (my 6th, her 7th) and my 5 th in just under 2 years so I'm taking some much needed time off to rest and heal. Just bought a road bike to do cross training and get away from running. Marathon training starts back up September 1st for Lisbon in December then hardcore for my first Boston Marathon next Easter.Comment

But now I will never touch the treadmill, if I have to go inside I resort to the track...Which have its own annoying issues. Mainly people who walk don't know what lane to use haha
Also, if you guys are serious about running I would suggest purchasing a Garmin GPS watch. It hooks up with a satellite and tells you your pace and after you upload it online you can see how fast your avg pace was for every mile...It also draws a map of the route you ran...Pretty cool!Comment

Even though I enjoy it I think I'm gonna have to take a break from running for a while. My left foot is killing me and it hurts like hell every morning when I get out of bed on a normal day and it's even worse the day after I run. I'm literally hobbling around like an old man (I'm 30) for the first hour of most days.
I think I might have some plantar faschitis (sp) or something so I might have to go get it checked out by a podiatrist. It's really sore on the ball of my foot and under the toes and is mildly sore all day but not that bad but is excruciating in the mornings.
You guys have an experience with that sort of thing?Comment

I have definitely heard of it, it was in runnersworld for one of the top 5 most common running injuries. As someone who has been injured before because of running (Tendinitis in my ankle and hip) it is best not to run on it at all. I was terrible at that, because after a week of doing nothing I would try to push and just make the recovery process longer.

A friend of mine who knows a bit about this sort of thing suggested wearing shoes at all times even around the house (I recently moved into a house that is virtually all tiled from a house that had lots of carpet) and suggested rolling a golf ball under the foot to trying loosen things up. I also get really tight calf muscles and generally my flexibility is hopeless so i think I have to focus on that for a while. I feel old man.Comment

Just got word that I am receiving an extra medal because I placed in my age group for the half-marathon. Definitely exciting, the last time I won something sports related had to be when I was playing little league baseball.
Anyways, got in my 8 mile run today after swimming yesterday...Which was a mistake. My legs felt trashed today during the run. One more week till the next race, which is a 10 mile run at Soldier Field.Comment

Just came home from the Soldier Field 10 mile:
10k next week to taper and last half-marathon of the summer in two weeks. With the time my cousin and I pulled today, I am really hoping for a 1:50-1:52 half marathon.
