Yeah, the flies/bugs thing is a dead giveaway as to its almost complete lack of food-ness.

I hope the butter advocate won the spatula duel.

    I AM BUTTAHHHHHHH!

      1. Alot of things are chemically altered to change the color of it. Rice isn't naturally white, neither are eggs.

      2. I don't eat butter or margine either, unless the food I am cooking actually calls for it. Maybe it is a cultural thing or something to eat buttered bread just for the hell of it LOL.

I know when I first started dating my wife, she and her family does that with everything they eat. Don't matter what the dish is, they will always grab a slice of bread and put some butter on it or if it is pancakes, put a huge slice of butter right on top of it.

I was like get that shish off my pancakes LOL. And they look at me like I am unhuman for not eating buttered bread or butter on anything. My wife and her family is crazy about olive oil too. They drown their salad in that stuff.

I remember the 1st time my wife tried to pour that shish on my salad I yelled heck no, cool ranch only, I don't want that greasey shish LOL.

...Butter makes bread taste better? I dunno, that's why I do it haha. Do you make toast? I also dip bread in vinegar and oil w/spices, especially homemade bread that's nice and crusty.

Ranch is among the many reasons America is fat. Your wife family has it right, olive oil, vinegar, and spices all over salads... mmm, delicious.

            Best dressing evah:

            Minced shallot
            Dijon mustard
            Bit of honey
            Salt/pepper
1/3rd ratio of Sherry vinegar to Olive oil (or a neutral oil, grapeseed or something works great)

Shake like hell in a container, check seasoning... if you want to add different spices to gear it in a certain way, that works... this is a basic French vinaigrette (with honey because I like the little bit of sweetness). Healthy and makes everything from salads to grilled vegetables and meats (especially white fish) taste better.

I rarely use butter. If a recipe requires it then I add it. But for everyday use I do without. I can eat corn on the cob, green beans, etc fine without it. I don't even put it on bread for sandwiches.

Same goes for salt. I don't use it at all. If I bought a box of salt it would still be in the cupboard like 10 years later.

Yeah I am like that with butter. I buy butter and it sits forever. I quit using salt too. I only eat it on eggs now. We get enough salt in our everyday food. Its just foolish to be adding more on.

Not if you buy and make real food... adding salt to vegetables is nothing unless you are dehydrated or have kidney problems. Adding salt to processed foods, yeah, you've got a problem.

Kosher salt for the win. Real butter too. Moderation, like anything -- better than all the fake **** they try to sell as an alternative that didn't exist until it was made in a lab within the last 30 years. Don't shake salt on food, use a pinch of Kosher at a time (by volume there's less sodium than regular salt, it makes you feel like you're using a ton to get the same amount of salty flavor so it encourages moderation) and taste constantly while you're cooking, and nothing will be oversalted. If you avoid all the hyper-salty fast food and processed BS, then your palate will adjust and you'll be seasoning your food properly. Same goes with over-sugary things, cut soda and stuff like that out of your diet and watch your tolerance for saccharine sweetness fall.

That's the thing that a lot of people don't understand. If you change your lifestyle, a lot of these cravings go away and when you do occasionally have the 'bad' stuff, the taste of even a little of it is a lot more extreme and fulfilling.

I use "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter"...usually just on toasted english muffins or grilled cheese sandwiches, that's it.

I have a butter spray I use for cooking, rather than use butter or margarine in the pan and have stuff swimming in it.
