I know every parent says this, but he's a REALLY good kid and seeing him in this condition and only being able to speak to him with no response was not easy. My wife is taking this very hard, and though we are dedicated Christian people and have faith, it's still tough to see your child like that.
This was totally an accident and the other boy is doing well (from all accounts). Our son started showing signs late of unresponsiveness and became very agitated. We're awaiting word from the hospital as to next steps.
We have 3 other children (ages 5 to 8) and they are not able to see him yet. Our youth minister (who was at camp with him) stayed with us (along with his wife) at the hospital until 3:30 a.m when we were told it would be best for us to head home. I slept for a couple hours but woke up and couldn't go back to sleep.
Would appreciate any prayers on his behalf... I was supposed to be heading to camp to pick him up this morning. Obviously this is not the news any parent would expect...
My wife is taking this very hard and is very emotional. I stay on a pretty even keel, so I'm trying to be strong for her and the kids. His name is Jaret and we'd appreciate your thoughts and prayers on his behalf.
(I'll keep you guys posted when I have any news to share).
Thanks so much, Mike
