Re: Official OS Member # Thread
Well, one of the newest member is listed as member #10,075,481 while it says there are currently 177,533 members which only accouts for 1.76% of the 10,075,481. One could assume that the 177,533 only counts active members. However, it seems improbable that if 10,075,481 people have actually registered then 98.24% of those people have since been banned. Assuming registration began on 7/17/2002 then 2908 days have passed since people began registering for this forum. If the figure of 10,075,481 is correct then that comes out to approximately 3465 new members per day or 2.4 new members per minute. Without knowing anything about computer programming or web design, my best guess would be that at some point there was a large influx of spambots or some other sort of event that generated an large number of new users which were later banned.

I figured it out. Something happened on March 9, 2009
If you go under "Quick Links" and select "Member list" and go to page 3081 showing results 92,401-92,430 of 147,328. I found in the following order this string of members (most of who have 0 posts)
cbrew1201 # 108,629
TheDeadit # 108,631
Circurne #1,000,000
Mephoomma #1,000,001

BrandasanatanaK #1,000,003

Correct, this is at least the 3rd forum software OS has used. I've been here since 99 or 2000. When I defected from the everything else sports IGN forum with urging from Shredder and Cookusu, amongst others.Comment

I know there was a time we hit some ridiculous number of Users Online at the same time which I believe exceeded the number of registered users on the site. I bet there's a connection somewhere.
How that happened? No clue."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
