    Making a Captain America Shield

For a Summer project, my boys and I are making a Captain America shield. We are almost done and I thought I'd show our progress. The shield is made from a pizza pan, purchased at Wal-Mart. The handles are attached with JB Weld. I thought about attaching them with screws but I didn't want the screws to show on the outside. We just finished paining the inside of the shield. It's looking good but I'm actually not quite sure how I'm going to get the star and colored rings complete. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Here are some pics...

You will probably have to make a stencil. And put it over the shield and then go from there.

          Dave my suggestion would be.

Mark your lines for the rings, star, and inner circle first.

Paint entire outer surface white first.

Then Paint inner circle blue(a solid star stencil would work good here to create star and your blue inner circle easiest).

Then mask off everywhere it will be white and blue(inner circle + star and middle stripe).

          Now spray whole thing red.

Pull off masking tape and complete.

That's what I was thinking. White and then put a star stencil and paint blue. Then put a bowl or solid circle stencil to cover the blue and do the red circles. Move from in to out.

You try and throw that thing yet? I'd do it before I painted

This is really cool. Cap. is still one of my favorite characters I still read his books. I think my daughter and I may try the same thing. Good luck can't wait to see how it turns out.

Also don't forget the clear coat on it. It will help protect it a little longer if ther will be playing around with it.

Let my kids play with it. One of my boys is already walking around the house with it. I'm going to ingrain the date in it too.
