    Re: Your gruesome injury stories..

Ran into a tree(very big tree). Fractured my shoulder.

Haven't had any other injuries other than that.

But...I know what your thinkin', how does your dumb *** run into a tree!? Well see I was chasing one of my friends and he was running and we were lined up straight into the tree while running full speed. I'm like right on his tail in reaching distance of his shirt and as soon as I try to reach I get tripped up but, by that time I'm so close to the tree there is nothing I can do but, wait for impact. Next thing I know I'm on the ground with about 6 or 7 people standing over me and half of them are friends so they had a big laughing party about it.

Ruined my whole summer that year. I think I was in the 4th or 5th grade because, I was still playing baseball at that time.

          Re: Your gruesome injury stories..

In 3rd grade (so I must've been 8 or 9), I was playing soccer for our town's team and got tripped. It was a cold morning so the ground was hard, and I caught myself with both arms. I heard something pop, felt something crack, and stayed down in pain. Wasn't screaming or anything, just clutched my arm.

My father, who was the coach and who happened to be standing right next to where I hit the ground, goes: "Get up and get back in the game." I tell him "I'm hurt" and he just goes "Get up and we'll take you out at the next break." I said "It's bad" and he finally caved and told me to stay down.

Fast-forward about five minutes, a doctor comes over and they slowly cut the sleeve off my long-sleeve shirt. First thing my father said when he saw my arm was "I'm sorry I didn't take you out right away..." and then "...it may just be dislocated." Ha.

Fast-forward again through the ambulance ride and to the x-ray room. I'm still smiling and joking with the EMTs and nurses (probably thanks to the drugs they were pumping into me - I ended up having a LOT of morphine that day) when I finally lay down on the x-ray table and look at my arm for the first time. My reaction?

"Is that my elbow?" And I pointed towards the large elbow-like bump protruding from my forearm. The x-ray tech laughed and told me that was arm. I'll never forget that.

In the end, I severely fractured both bones in my forearm to the point that any more angle on the bones, or if I had hit the ground just a bit harder, both bones would've been coming out of the skin. I spent nine weeks in a full cast - from my hand up past my elbow - and had to sleep with my arm suspended up in a special medical "sock" that was attached to a coat-rack to try and get the swelling down so they could re-cast it.

The bones had to be re-set twice by my doctor. To this day my parents say that the only time I screamed and cried was when they told me "I'm sorry but we have to do that one more time" after the doctor did not like how the bones set the first time. I don't quite remember the pain - they gave me some kind of medicine that was supposed to dull the memory of the few minutes - but I'll never forget the feeling of having my bones pushed back into place. I assume it hurt. A lot.

A similar story, but I wasn't hurt...I was 10-12 and we were playing some sort of tag/chasing/hiding game and I was running back to a tree (the safe spot). My friend was all ready there trying to tag me, he reaches his arm straight out and my forehead jams right into his hand. He ended up breaking his wrist and I was fine lol

            How I didn't get actually hurt I don't know...

These killed me for years, man. Last one probably 8 or 9 years ago, I still almost never take my shoes off unless it's late a night...stemming from a few years of being in fear of having my toe stepped on and practically killing me

Someone didn't teach him how to defend himself. When I played goalie, my knee always came up first and if you got too close, you got a knee in your jewels or gut. Then when I need to punch the ball away, I would use 2 fists, 1 for the ball and 1 to the head, but you had to be careful of that one.

In soccer, I played goalie and I was aggressive, so I got a lot of injuries. I got kicked in the back of my head, stepped on my throat, 2 fingers cut by getting stepped on with cleats, etc.

In 4 or 5th grade I caught a long TD pass with a hard rubber football. The point hit my thumb and it bent backwards. I didn't break it, but it was dislocated and hurt for a week or 2.

ODogg, sounds like we have the same knee problem. I had 2 scopes and then had a 3rd surgery to move the tendon after they couldn't scrape my kneecap any more. They drilled 3 holes in my bone and then chipped it off the rest of my bone so the tendon stayed attached to the bone. Then they moved it over and screwed it back in.

I got attacked by my power rangers when I was 7. It was a coordinated attack that left me withthe top of my head busted open and blood everywhere.

                  Spoiler

Other than that I haven't had any gruesome injuries. Just a hurt back that still gets pains every once in awhile from a football injury my senior year of high school two years ago.

Edit: Actually I forgot about when I was 4 and accidently the thin part on the underside of my toungue in half. I had to eat applesauce, mashed potatoes, and rice for 2 weeks while it grew back. Another incident where there was blood everywhere.

Lol I just remembered when I was like 8 and we were camping, I bombed this hill on my bike and scraped the entire inside of my lip raw. I remember not being able to have chocolate ice cream because of how much it stung

I broke my upper arm pretty bad in a hockey game in 8th grade. Bone was about to come out of the skin, they had to attempt to numb me up and re-break my arm a couple times to get it back into place. I could feel my bones moving as they tried to re-position them.

I always loved their pep talk before breaking it back about how much "better" it'll feel with the shot. The shot alone was enough to call it a day. It gave the weirdest sensation and to say it hurt wouldn't do it justice.

Here's another one. It wasn't me but, I remember this kid was ran into a light pole at school while we were having recess. I was on the monkey bars and the next thing I know this kid runs smack dab into the light pole. Had to get a bunch of stitches.

They gotta big blue thing wrapped around the pole now so that'll never happen again. Other than that I've never seen to many other people get hurt really bad except for in some fights. Some guy got jumped down the street a couple of days ago, it was pretty bad.

Only 2 injuries to not of in my life so far (knock on wood). 1st grade i was playing football with the neighbor and I got tripped up and fell on a rock. 7 stiches.

More recent. Beginning of '09 baseball season, we were running 40 times indoors in the hallways of our high school, and I lost my balance and ran into a wooden door at the end of the hallway. Broke my left elbow and sprained my right wrist. Missed the entire season.

The joke that was going around the school on why I still made the team was I "was willing to go the extra mile."

Worst I've ever done was dislocate my left kneecap while roughhousing with my brother, way back in middle school (not at school, at home). Not a very pleasant sight for anyone nearby (including me), to see my kneecap sitting on the side of my knee. It actually popped back into place by itself, while I was being loaded in to go to the hospital, and after that the pain wasn't nearly as bad. I was on crutches for a few weeks and then was back to normal.

It may be more of a psychological thing than anything else since this happened almost 20 years ago, but I still find that knee very sensitive even today and know INSTANTLY when something doesn't feel right.

?? I never sayed anything about ice in that story. LOL But when my leg went under my butt and fell to the ground onto my leg. I felt my ankle break because of the force of fall it had. It did hurt big time. But that was like 20 years ago.
