Ok that makes sense now. I got into the demo of Saints Row.

Re: Off Topic 2010
I agree. Saints Row had to be one of the funnest games I've played. They took what GTA did and made it better. I don't know why it was so much better, but it was. My main gripe was they made GTA4 too real, if that makes sense
EDIT: If I start making "Official, which team should I choose.." threads in the video game sections, will you guys (mods) start closing and deleting the individual threads for those?Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

Ha, after thinking (which I don't like doing on a Saturday night, thanks) I'm assuming GTA means Grand Theft Auto. Never played it but have heard enough about it...Comment

Re: Off Topic 2010
My issue with GTA IV was that is was essentially the same game as before, just with better graphics. It was a fun game, but yeah, terribly overrated.I agree. Re: Off Topic 2010
IDK about being the same game, but I think I get where you're coming from.
San Andreas and Vice City will always be #1 and #2 respectively, to meOriginally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

I think they would make proper stickies, especially since I seem to see those threads all the time.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2010
Really? IMO, GTA IV was about as far from San Andreas on a gameplay and story telling level you can get imo.
Crazy gang-banger goes on a journey through a colorful, diverse substitute for the west doing things such as flying jetliners, stealing jet packs, and riding mountain bikes off of mountains.
vs.
Calm, collected hired gun goes on a journey through a dark, dirty, gray substitute for NYC doing things not even close to as crazy as the things mentioned above.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2010
What I mean is, what do you do in San Andreas, IV, and really all of the GTA's? The missions share the same format, drive out, kill some people, steal something, follow someone, rinse and repeat. Outside of the missions is where the game is the most fun, just free roaming chaos. The games haven't really evolved since GTA 3, it's basically the same product year after year, just with story and setting variations.-Ohio State-

Re: Off Topic 2010
Actually I've never played saints row, I think you're confusing me with another poster.
I know GTA is fun, it's just lost it's just lost it's luster for me. I was disappointed in GTA IV because they didn't really add anything to the game that wowed me. Game reviewers were giving it 10's all over the place, which are usually reserved for games that are initiative in some way, like the first GTA was, so I was expecting a more evolved game, not just improved graphics.-Ohio State-

Re: Off Topic 2010
Considering that the game industry is as hype driven as it is, and that GTA IV was an awesome game, I see nothing outlandish about it getting 10's.Actually I've never played saints row, I think you're confusing me with another poster.

Re: Off Topic 2010
Well the hypocrisy bugs me for one, if we're talking strictly ratings here. Games get bumped down all the time for being "more of the same", which is precisely what GTA IV is. For example, I own Armored Core 4, and Armored Core For answer. AC4 scored about a 7ish, while ACFA scored in the six's range, even though it's a more complete game in every way, it was penalized for sharing the same gameplay and format as it's predecessor. Even Fallout New Vegas was bumped down in ratings because it was more of the same. It just bugs me that seemingly GTA and Call of Duty are the only exceptions to that rule. And to me a 10, and to most game review syllabus', a 10 is reserved for an Almost perfect and or highly Innovative/Revolutionary game, I don't see how anyone can say that for GTA IV.Last edited by dan_457; 12-18-2010, 10:00 PM.-Ohio State-
