Regardless of whether kids are "soft" or not, we shouldn't be telling kids they should be stronger and ending it there. We need to figure out how to stop the problems instead of telling them to mask the symptoms. Whether that's more transparency between schools and parents, better parenting, more accountability for bullying... I don't know.

Perhaps in general, but this didn't seem to be terrible parenting. In reading the article, which of course, might be biased, it seemed the parents let the girl know about the dangers of what she did (it does seem like this was after the fact, but again, the article does not say). There were no other facts about the parenting, other than the fact that the daughter felt like she couldn't share this with her parents (for understandable reasons, given the stiff upper lip kids are supposed to have about bullying).

In this case, I'm not sure who the problem lies with. If she never sends that message, she's still with us today. It does, however, seem like she knew about the dangers of doing it, and still did it.

I suppose what I'm saying about this case is that there isn't enough information to make an informed statement on the state of parenting.

Granted, bullying should be stopped, and there should be much more effective ways with dealing with it than what happened. Especially with contact of their parents, which apparently didn't happen.

Is everyone playing NBA 2k11? Watching the MLB Playoffs?

Just seems like there's less going on here than normal.

Well bullying will never stop until there is an american culture make over and world wide culture make over. Sad but true. Ask any man what it was like when they were a boy and they will tell you the following:

Boys played manly sports like football, baseball, hockey or basketball. And if you were a boy you had to watch those sports on tv. If you didn't like those sports you were called gay. If you played or liked tennis, at least in chicago anyway you were called gay.

Boys do manly activities like hunt, fish and look at women boobs and arses. If you didn't have a playboy or ever looked at one by the age of 13 you were gay.

How many times in gym class when you were a kid did you hear the gym teacher and other kids call kids who couldn't catch a football, baseball or shoot a basketball gay ?

How many times did you hear if you not 6ft or taller you aren't a real man by teen girls in high school or college ?

For those in the military, how many times during boot camp did you hear the drill instructors call guys who couldn't shoot, do push ups or chin ups gay or a girlie man or pillow biter ?

Same thing happens with adults. If your not married or divorced or have a girlfriend or bachelor pad and your in your 30s and you are called gay.

How many times have you seen men still living in their moms house pass the age of 25 called gay ?

How many times growing up as a kid did you see kids wearing glasses automatically called nerds ? Especially those who wore bifocals.

Same thing with women.......If you didn't have big boobs, slim waist, blonde hair and blue eyes you were considered ugly.

I mean look at women society today from that brainwashing bullying mindset they grew up on. Got black and hispanic women dying their hair blonde, wearing weaves for their hair can be long, wearing blue contacts. Hell even changing the way they talk just for they can feel beautiful and accepted in society.

Growing up I literally had hispanic and black friends who did everything that they thought a white person would do for they could fit in. Instead of listening to hispanic or rap music, they listened to country and rock. Never in public would admit they listened to rap music. Instead of admitting they like soccer, they would say no, baseball is their favorite sport.

Instead of drinking beer, they drunk wine instead. Instead of chicken and ribs, it was steak and salmon filets. I mean they pretty much disowned their own heritage and family just for they could fit in. Anything that was associated with a black or hispanic person would eat or drink or like to do, they wouldn't do it.

Sad......really sad. I mean walk into any office or bank, I gurantee you that receptionist is probably a blonde, not a bbw and don't wear bifocals. I mean hell have you ever seen a super model or model wear glasses on the runway ? NO, not unless it was sunglasses.

I mean when I was in high school, all the girls who wore glasses switched to contacts because they didn't want to be labeled as a dork, nerd or geek. To them wearing glasses weren't hot or sexy.

Look at all the women today killing themselves going to tanning booths, getting boob implants, lip injections and stuff, just for they can feel accepted. Until that cultural mindset changes, there will always be bullying.

All technology did was make it spread to more people faster. Instead of lamebook or rate my pic websites back then it was the notebook list of the hottest boys and girls in the school. And who was the ugliest and nerdist kids in school.

I mean in senior year books you have always had the most popular, sexiest guy, sexiest girl, the jock, the funniest, etc. for decades. Now it is twitter and facebook. People base how good looking or cool they are by how many friends they have on their page.

When I was in college it was myspace and if you didn't have a lot of women leaving you comments on your page, you were called gay. Didn't have over 50 female friends on your myspace page, you were called gay.

I mean lets be honest here. When you were a kid and if your dad caught you sewing, cooking or weaving baskets, etc. what was the 1st thing that came out of his mouth ?

I mean who didn't hear men grill, women cook when they were growing up as a kid.

Your not crazy, it is the NBA 2k11 effect. It been that way since Monday. Normally before the game came out, you would see about 20 or 30 people in the OS neighborhood forum, a dozen in the entertainment & technology forum, 2 dozen in the non sports gaming forum.

But since NBA 2K11 came out, you see 10 or less in the neighborhood, 4 people in the entertainment & technology forum and around 5 people in the non sports gaming forum.

I remember Off topic use to move so fast that if you left and came back an hour later, it would have been 40 posts. Now you will be lucky to get 10 posts an hour. Last night I swear this had 3 posts in a 4 hour period it seemed. It was a ghost town.

The MLB At-Bat app for iPhone/iPod Touch was already one of the best things ever, but now that I can sit here in the computer lab at school watching Rays/Rangers on my iPod for free, I couldn't be happier.

Granted it isn't the TV broadcast, it's cameras they have installed in the park and you can only watch one camera angle at once, but it's still awesome.

I'm in between classes. Just killing time in the computer lab until the next one.

Although I have been known to have my iPod sitting in my lap with the At-Bat Free Game of the Day playing on it during my Adobe Flash class.

When I was in college I use to download mp3s and movies in the computer lab in between classes. But that was back in the day where broadband wasn't available in homes yet and was only given to schools and businesses.

Well, I (attempted) to trade in my PS2 slim, games, & mem cards today. They wouldn't take the Slim because they require a controller with it and mine wasn't in good enough shape to trade in. They also wouldn't take GTA San Andreas because it was a first run copy that wasn't patched to get rid of the "Hot Coffee" mod. Still, I did better than expected, though I also got a PowerUp card and there was a promotional bonus so that helped. Anyways, here's what I got.

After that I bought NHL 11 (PS3) and Burnout Paradise (PS3, both new and only spent $44.95. Burnout Paradise is only $20 and NHL was $60.

I wonder if you could eBay that copy of San Andreas and get a decent price. People might pay more if you can use the Hot Coffee thing with it.

I remember doing that with my copy around the time Hot Coffee was exposed.

Got a pretty penny then. Don't know if you can get the same amount of cash now, but it's worth a shot.
