Because people drive by habit and if you are in fear of a ticket for a week, perhaps you'll be careful for that week and then some.

So why not announce it but do the same things you normally do, then go out a month or two later and not announce it? Seems like you'd get the benefits of both. You'd cause people to drive more safely during that week and you catch you more people driving like idiots when you didn't announce it.

the people they do catch gets them some revenue.

If it's revenue they want they'd get more by not announcing it.

Because this way allows the cops to maintain a more positive image. When you announce it and hit it hard, I would contend that the people who go straight for that week are the locals who are most aware of it. So perhaps you are getting more poeple from outside the jurisdiction.

I live pretty close to the PA line and there's a small town here in Ohio that only pulls over cars with PA plates cuz you don't want to piss off the people...to a large extent...who live there. People in PA have to drive thru this little town to get to a larger town in Ohio for their Walmart, mall, etc. It's a rich area as well, so you have to watch your skin color and have a nicer vehicle or else you're getting a ticket.

Going out in a few weeks and nailing a ton of people would likely net more of the locals so while you generate revenue, you begin to piss off more people. Sure, some locals are going to get tickets but if it's a smaller town these cops know who is supposed to be there and who looks out of place. You can't piss off too many people

My County just announced they are going to crack down on people texting and talking on there Cell Phone. Then when it is over they ca tout how many people they caught and how much money they made. In completely unrelated news, the Election for sheriff are coming up...

People always try to say that stuff about Wisconsin cops handing out tickets to out-of-state plates. I've had either Michigan or Minnesota plates on any car I've owned and lived near the border of Wisconsin my whole life.

I took out my keys, my phone, my change and receipt from dinner last night...but forgot the wallet. Luckily I didn't have any cash in there, and only a couple promo/stamp cards were ruined.

A new reason I hate Dish...

I just simply hate Dish...they took away my FXSports; I have no MLB Network. The reason I switched from cable to Dish was price but the price is the same without the channels I had before.

The fiancee is going to Seattle for the entire weekend through Monday to do wedding dress shopping and other wedding preparations. I'm stoked, I can just relax all weekend, watch football, drink beer, and play video games!

So, a friend tells me that he bought a new ps3. I say, "Hell yeah, glad you saved up and bought one.". He responds with, "Naw man.. I still don't have a job.. I got my pell grant."


I kept thinking.. oh you mean the one I can't get because my parents make more than 35k combined..

That **** really pisses me off. I could be using that money for an education. I may be the only one who sees it like that, though.
