I'm not sure I've seen any commercials for it. They were talking about it on the news the other night though since it was partially filmed in Pittsburgh and one of the anchors either had a very small part or was an extra.

Debating what to get my girlfriend for Christmas. She has never had her own computer and I know she would love one. She does seem to love netbooks cause they're little and accessorizable. I can get her a nice little bundle from Best Buy with everything she would need for $400. From what I can see so far from the Black Friday ads, I can get her a netbook alone for $150 or a laptop alone for $350-$400.

She is also a big Wizard of Oz fan, and she recently got robbed and they took her Oz DVD, so I was also thinking of the collectors edition of that with a nice piece of jewelry too.

I can't decide. Option 1 is something she will get the most use out of, but #2 is a little more thoughtful. It's hard cause I haven't had a meaningful relationship going into Christmas time, and my family is very anti-big gift anymore, so I haven't had to put much thought into it recently

It seems to be on all the time here. When I posted that I had just seen it four times in about 10 minutes. It's starting to drive me crazy.

Do you think she'd be okay with the netbook you mentioned seeing an ad for at $150? You could get her that netbook and then also get her the Oz DVD's. Best of both worlds.

If you can afford both, go with the computer and Oz. If you can afford just one, go with Option 2 IMO. With girlfriends, always go with thoughtful/sentimental over practical.

I don't really understand the draw of the movie. Yeah it might have explosions and a big time actor, but the plot from what I understand sounds like a Movie of the Week. Or any other cheesy disaster flick like Dante's Peak, Volcano, etc.

Exactly how I feel. Sounds kinda dumb to me to be honest and I don't see it doing well, but who knows.
