        Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Not so patiently waiting for the It's Always Sunny in Philly season premiere. The description my Dish gives me sounds hilarious.

So what have I watched since I last posted in this topic?

                      8/9/1988 Mets/Cubs

First official night game in Wrigley Field history.

                      1988 Oklahoma/Oklahoma State

I'll just repost what I said on another forum:

Holy crap on a stick! This was one helluva football game. I had made a trade for this game only because I want to keep beefing up my NCAA FB collection and I had forgotten that Barry Sanders was still at Ok. State. It seemed the Cowboys had no way of stopping the Wishbone early in the game as it looked like it was going to be a rout early on. The `Boys come back though as Barry Sanders puts up big yards and Hart Lee ****s made some great catches. There was one catch he made where the defender was in front of him and had an INT laid out but he missed the ball and ****s caught it!

Four things jumped out at me in this game:

                      1. I can see why Barry Sanders wasn`t used a lot in 3rd and short or goaline situations in the NFL. Three were quite a few of those situations in this game and he only converted one of them. (leaping into the endzone) I also noticed he was more of a north-south runner at least in this game and was fairly conventional though there were a couple times when you saw glimpses of what he`d become. (There was a nice run where he did a spinarama move)

                      2. Mike Gundy, As I was watching the game the name kept nagging at me then I finally remembered that that`s the coach of the team today! I thought he did a pretty good job all things considered. Actually, the entire Oklahoma St. offense was fairly interesting to watch. They were a pretty conventional pro style offense that threw in the option every once in a while. It seemed like they were a team that leaned heavily on Sanders but also relied on Gundy`s arm quite a bit.

                      3. Barry Switzer was on his knees most of the game trying to hide from the camera because he was....SMOKING! I don`t think i`ve ever seen a coach smoking during a game before other then Red Auerbach smoking at the end of Celtics victories. I wonder if Swtizer did that at all when he was at Dallas? I don`t seem to recall hat though. Oh and one last thing did Switzer stick to the Wishbone after `88 as it seemed to work but it was starting to be pretty archaic.

                      4. Last but not least, I felt really bad for Ok. State near the end of the game they get hit with a very questionable penalty that more or less sunk their chances at coming back to win the game. However, they did have a GLORIOUS chance to as the receiver caught the ball at the endzone and dropped it! It was very similar to the Jackie Smith play during that SB against the Steelers. Tough way to lose a game and i`m sure it left a bitter taste in a lot of fans` mouths because of the chintzy nature of the penalty.
Yeah I know a bit long and detailed but I didn't feel like typing up a short synopsis that would short change the glory that was this game.

                                Pats/Jets. And RedZone between commercials.

I prefer full games, but RedZone not having commercials makes it ideal to switch to for a couple minutes during my main game's commercials. And it allowed me to be able to see Favre fail in his comeback effort.

Either way, I won't be too broken up next week when it's gone.
