Finally starting to cut into my backlog a bit. Got through both Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Gravity Rush. And, while it's anything but done, at least I managed to beat Diablo III on normal (I will definitely come back for the higher levels later, Diablo's not going anywhere for a long, long time).

I guess next is probably going back to Persona 3 on the PS3 (PS2 download). Really want to get through that before P4 comes out on the Vita, even though they are seperate stories. And that may be a challenge because it's proving to be a major time-sink.

Still playing The Show anytime I don't feel like playing anything else. Pinball Arcade is a quick time-killer too.

I definitely want to download Persona 3 off of PSN. Sadly it isn't up yet in Europe. Really enjoyed it on my PSP.

50 hour mark and counting in Persona 3. And still loving every second. It's weird that I'd re-discover Persona and Diablo around the same time, because they share that randomness effect (at least 3 and 4 do). It really makes the game never seem boring, even though you basically crawl through the same long dungeon for almost the entire game. And I do mean CRAWL - this is one game that punishes you harshly for trying to rush through it.

And in the FES version of the game that this PS3 download is, there's a whole other quest after the main one (I guess it's probably an epilogue of some sort) that I haven't even touched yet. Who knows how much more content there is in this one.

I've played something like 12 or 13 hours of FIFA 12 in the past two days.

And dammit have I enjoyed every second of it. So glad I bought that game.

Makes me wish I had less ****ty internet so I could actually follow real soccer. Oh well.

Also still throwing in the occasional hour or two of Skyrim. Because that game is so damn engrossing.

Working through Mass Effect 2 (I was a late joiner of the series), and Kingdoms of Amalur and Dead Island are on their way here from GameFly.

Finally beat the main game of Persona 3 (called "The Journey" in the FES version) at 95 hours, 34 minutes. It's been a long, long time since I've sunk that much time into any single non-sports video game (there's no real way of knowing how much time I put into the sports ones...). And it culminated in one of the most incredible final boss fights I've ever experienced.

Final Battle and End Spoilers:

I actually had to fight Nyx twice, and the way I died the first time was just excruciating. Party of MC, Junpei, Akihiko, and Aigis. Went through all 12 of the regular forms without too much trouble (though it probably took at least a half hour) before hitting its death arcana. What followed was a close to 2 hour war of attrition as I slowly whittled down its HP (my party was all around level 70, with the main at 75). Moonless Gown absolutely wrecked me the first time I saw it, but I was still able to revive Akihiko and Junpei when they decided to attack with that reflect move active. So I finally get down to the last 1/8th HP or so and Nyx starts using Night Queen. Mind you, at this point I'm doing this fight blind without a guide, so it was rough to see status effects + 150+ damage each turn. But I was still holding on until.....Night Queen Raged my MC. The extra damage Rage did brought Nyx down to where you couldn't see its bar anymore, but it wasn't enough - with no control of my character, and unable to heal, he bit the dust from another Night Queen attack. 2 1/2 hours for nothing but the game over screen. Now I have at least some idea of how people feel if their Hardcore character dies in Diablo.

So...round 2. I buffed my best attacking persona (Thor) with some extra strength and magic incense cards, and went back to my Mjolnir weapon that had carried me through most of the last 3/4 of the game. The second attempt took nearly as long, but went much smoother. Until the last part, where Night Queen RAGED ME AGAIN (this is an attack that can hit your entire party with any one random ailment, so for it to rage me twice is just incredibly unlucky!) I still could have been wiped out in the exact same way as last time, but things were different this time around - that extra strength from the persona and Mjolnir made all the difference as the battle only lasted one more turn, with the MC delivering the coup de grace with Thor's hammer entirely by his own raged self. Victory, after a total of nearly 5 hours of battling!

The ending was very good, but the full scope of it (specifically, what happened to the MC at the end) did not hit me until the beginning of "The answer" - I had no idea him falling asleep was actually him "dying" (or at least that's what the other characters think happened). Seems like the "contract" certainly has its price...

On to "The Answer", and so far it's proving to be no less of a challenge. About an hour into fighting on the first few floors (and not having saved, thinking I'd be safe enough - you'd think I would know better by now) I got one-shot critical'd by one of those lions that can attack you twice in a turn. Back to the drawing board...

BTW, this whole experience has got me SERIOUSLY pumped for P4 Golden when it drops on Vita. So glad I've held off on watching the anime, so as not to spoil the story.

Actually I'm probably going to hold off on Arena - I want to play through the main game first. It's an interesting concept, though.
