    Bad Eyes question

I have always had great vision 20/20. But I have not had my vision checked in 8 to 10 years I would have to guess. Well nothing has changed since this time. I see everything fine and have no problem with head aches or anything.

Just the other day I was reading a article about the new 3d DS. It was explaining how the 3d works and how when you alternate closing each eye that the image will shift (DUH). So I was doing this and noticing how the foreground objects move more than the background objects. Yet again another DUH, but I was bored sitting on the porcelain thrown and reading the mag.

This is when I looked at a bottle of shampoo sitting on the edge of the bath tub and realized the wording was all fuzzy and I could not make out what it said. So I then switched eyes and my right eye could see it fine and clear. So I alternate again and my left eye is all fuzzy. Thinking something was in my eye or to much tears was causing it I dried and tried clearing my eye. Same results, blurry.

So obviously my left eye is getting bad out of no where. But my question about this. When should I go see someone or should I just wait until it becomes more noticeable?? Because I can't tell any difference in my vision with both eyes open. It is only when I close my right eye and look just with my left eye that I can tell the difference.

It is odd since I have always had great vision and hearing. Now I am getting old AGGGGGGGGGGGGG (Turn 30 in Feb)

You should go see an optometrist immediately. You'll probably need some kind of correction for that eye.

I am wondering what is causing it. I wonder if it is because now I have had a desk job the last 5 years. So I am now looking at a computer screen from 7:30am to 5:00pm then when I get home I am on the 360, PS3, or PC for another couple hours. I wonder if that is causing this

Getting into one is going to be HARD, that is why i am asking. My boss is out and I am running the company from top to bottom so me taking time off in the next few days is out the question.

If you look at a PC screen for work, then yeah your eyes will get worse quicker then your average person. Just go to Lens Crafters and get an eye exam, it is only $85 or $75. Probably just need some reading glasses.

And it only takes 30 minutes or less.

                  Re: Bad Eyes question

Phobia, I have pretty rough vision and have wrestled with getting my eyes the best vision possible. I just recently got a new pair of glasses and they are not up to what I expected. It can be frustrating when you notice that one eye can see better than the other.

I would schedule an eye exam and explain to them your dilemma. Remember this. When you get your eyes checked, try your best to not squint during the test. I have done this many times and you end up getting a prescription for when you squint (not when you are normally using your eyes). it's tough because you tend to naturally strain to read something you may not be able to read.

                  Hope it all works out.

Thanks Dave. I plan on getting in at some point. It might take me a month or more before I have time. I just wanted to see if anyone thinks this is something I need to look into ASAP or something I can delay for couple months.

I know I am not going blind, but it is also something I am not familiar with either.

Yep you should see an optometrist as soon as you can. Also I don't know if it's covered by insurance or not but really you should have a full eye examination at least once every 2 years. At least that's what I do. It's basically how I caught on to the fact that I have glaucoma....well other then the most horrible head and eye pain ever but that's another story.

I'm going to disagree on doing it right away, but doing it within the next couple of months would be important. If there is pain, sudden loss of vision or you notice your eyeball is on the floor, I'd get it looked at asap.

LOL yea this was my general out look of how to handle it to. But hell I don't know much when it comes to vision and it going south.
