NH school teachers get rules on Facebook

I wish more schools and jobs did this. And is it just me or are female teachers more horny then ever nowadays ? I remember when I was growing up female teacers were either happily married or happily divorced. They wore dresses down to their ankles and never wore a skirt.

Teachers now..........different story. Teachers now are HOT, they wear skirts, summer dresses, show a ton of skin. And they all seem so young now too. When I was in school all my teachers were in their 50s and 60s, with a couple in their mid to late 40s.

Stupid. I talked to 2-3 all the time on facebook on the summer. Usually coaches checking up on me for workouts.

Hell I played Gears of War and Modern Warfare with my golf coach all through out my Junior and senior year. Him and a bunch of others used to have marathon sessions until 4 in the morning.

I know this is to prevent more so students "harrasing"(to strong of a word) their hot teachers on facebook. I mean it's not illegal to ask for a naked pic is it? I was all over my hottest teacher.

Like Mgoblue said, it is about common sense. I see both sides of the story here. On one side, clearly there's a responsibility to being a teacher. Disclosing pictures to your students of you being fall down drunk on a Wednesday is a bad idea. However, I don't think there has to be a "mystery" as one parent in that article suggested. I'm comfortable with my students about who I am and what I do. If there's something I wouldn't want them to know, I wouldn't post it on Facebook.

I also acknowledge a difference between my level (elementary teaching) and the level this story is likely aimed at (secondary/high school teaching). Believe it or not, I've had Facebook friend requests from my elementary schoolers (all rejected). In contrast, as a high school coach, I accept requests amongst my players.

Now the real reason I quoted you, GotMad, was to reassure you the 50-60 year old female teachers wearing their dresses down to their ankles are still very much omnipresent. Sometimes I question going into elementary ed (rather than secondary) only because my lunch hour consists of being surrounded by 12 mothers talking about menopause and colonoscopies.

I'm friends with lots of my old teachers in high school. I ben out for 5 years though. But yeah I was in the grouping of having young hot teachers. We used to talk with the guy teachers about the women teachers.

I think my oldest teacher in high school guy or girl was 35, while the rest were 24-30. High School was so fun because of that. We had our teachers phone numbers and we would get phone calls from guy teachers drunk. During our beach week a group of us called up a teacher wasted talking crap to him and he just went with it.

During my friend Grad party all the teachers were there drunk and one was talk s*** to me and saying he was gonna beat my butt it was hilarious.

Yep, some people on facebook are stupid. Posting picture of you getting drunk or half naked is not a good idea for any job.

If you're gonna post crazy stuff on FB then just keep it locked down so no one at school has access...It's not that hard

Yeah......I think the school district just did it to cover their own butt in case some teacher who don't have common sense does something stupid. Then the district and the school themselves won't be liable.

Me and my wife have facebook and I am amazed what some people put in their status of what they are doing or the kind of pictures they upload via their smartphone. Nothing like seeing somebody upload a drunk pic via their smartphone of them doing something inappropiate.

And being that most smartphones nowadays take video too where you can easily upload it to facebook and youtube with the touch of a button, it is even more risky. Smartphone and alcohol is a deadly combination.

Oh, I agree...most people are smarter about it, but sadly the schools now need official policies to protect themselves from the idiots who post really inappropriate stuff. If you're a teacher you shouldn't be posting pictures of you beer bonging or doing a shot on a ice luge lol

This is because teachers are getting burned out at a higher rate than ever.

Professional distance is important not just because teachers can cross boundaries, but because you need that level of separation to effectively facilitate learning.

It does seem like teachers are younger and more attractive these days; however, we had a few doozies in HS back in the 80s. One in particular posed for Playboy and never lived it down. There were pictures that circulated for ever. She at one time broke down and ran out of the room crying because students would ridicule her.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

I think that if teachers want to have some personal facebook or whatever, they should do something like what my English Proffesor (She was only 28) last year does. She has her proffesional one that the students can contact her with for school related topics. If you do something inapporpriate you're instantly blocked by her. Then she has her personal one that no one ever found, that's private for everyone and you just don't add students to those.

However I don't know if all the teachers would have enough self-control to deal with that.

We had a teacher at our school that a lot of people believe was once a stripper. It was pretty much an instant suspension though if you ever brought it up so no one did. Really don't know how she personally knew so many New Orleans Saints even though I live in Washington.

IMO......teachers shouldn't add students period to their page. Most schools nowadays have a school website with every teacher listed with their school email address. If you want to contact a teacher email them at the school website email address. That would solve the problem.

To me nowadays too many teachers and adults in general try to be friends with kids. When I was a kid growing up, there was a clear line distinction between adult and kid. Adults weren't friends with kids PERIOD.

Even my parents were like that. They made it crystal clear they were my parents and not my friend. They didn't do the whole buddy buddy thing I see many parents nowadays do. But yet they wonder why their kids run a muck and disrespect them all the time.

When you treat a child as a friend they will walk all over you.

Yes sir. Gotta keep that student-teacher boundary. I'd do anything for you, but we aren't friends.
