Best ways to make friends in a new city?

So I just recently moved down to Miami after living in Jacksonville for the past 8 years.

I don't know anybody out here at all.

I just graduated college. So im not in school anymore.

And therein lies the problem...For the last 23 years, most of the friends I have made have been through school some how. Now that Im no longer in school and in an area where I dont know anyone, I dont really know the best ways to go out and make some new friends.

I've been here two weeks and havent gone out once because I have nobody to go out with. Going out by yourself seems kind of lame. lol

Any suggestions fellas?

WORK. Other then that shopping. I am new to Vermont but already met dozens of people just by going grocery shopping. Kind of funny how when you no longer single women flock to you by the dozen. But when you are single women act like their phone number is the ft knox vault password.

Since moving here at the end of May, I must have gotten 2 dozen phone numbers from women at the various stores around here. Asked out 7 times. However I am married now so it is no use to me.

I know that girls always like the new guy in school. Didnt really know that applied to a city as well...lol

Oh snap, welcome to Miami! Too bad I'm moving to Atlanta to start college in 4 days

I'd say work is probably your best bet. But I'll give you one other Miami suggestion:

Check out Jimbo's Place on Virginia Key. It's a really cool bohemian fisherman's village/shrimp shack. Go alone and I guarantee you'll have 20 friends by the time you leave. Buy some $1 beer and shrimp and challenge someone to a game of bocci ball. It's a relaxed and very eclectic crowd, and it's just a Miami landmark you should check out anyway. (And if you're still in town in late April, DO NOT miss Jimbo's annual birthday bash. I'm just saying.)

Have fun in Miami, it's a cool place.

Thats why Im trying to meet some people down here.

No matter what you're interested in...a major city like Miami will have gatherings of people into the same thing. Sports bars/comic shops/car clubs and so on.

Easiest way to make friends is to have something in common already.

If your into football you moved at a perfect time. Head to the local bars for games your bound to make friends quick.

Just go to the park an get in a pick up game with some other peoples. After that your bound to make some friends then hit up the clubs on south beach an like NDAlum said tell the girls your new. They actually do like that since its like trying out the new flavor to them since they are usually board with what they currently have and if you know a little spanish then the spanish girls will love you. Other then that I say work would be an easy way to make friends.

See, I wouldnt even know how to strike up a conversation in the grocery store. It just seems like everyone is in their own world, focused on what they are there for.

Just say hi. Conversation just naturally rolls from there for most women.

Yeah, they like the new guy because they get "tired" of the dudes they're dealing with in their own city.

As for when u holla at a chick in a grocery store, just examine her cart and say something like "u look like u about to throw down!" or "I wish I was having dinner with u girl." Now that only works if ur not an ugly dude...LOL
