    Speeding Ticket in Illinois help..

So today I was busted doing a 43 in a 30, I thought it was a 35 mph zone and I didn't think I was going over 40. Anyways the cop gives me the ticket and said he recommends I attend my court date and "ask for court supervision." He said if I do that my ticket will not go on my driving record.

So guys in Illinois or anyone with any knowledge on court supervision what does that mean? When I go to court do I simply just request supervision and what exactly is supervision. Also my fine is $75 so will I have to pay that plus court and other costs if I do decide to go to court?

I don't have to go to court I can just pay the fine, but I do not want my insurance to go up. I received a ticket in April so 2 in 5 months will definitely spike my insurance, so I will look into the court supervision I just have no clue what it is.

Thanks..I've been having bad luck lately. Yesterday a dude hits my car, today I got a ticket. Oh well it could always be worse.

There you go. And yeah very few areas in IL have a 35 mph speed zone. On roads in cities, majority of them the speed limit is 30, some far out suburbs on certain streets it is 40mph, but I must say in 99% of the places it is 30mph.

Welcome to IL.......the land of slow speed zones and cops damn near everywhere giving out speeding tickets.

All I can recommend is go to court and see what happens. If you get court supervision and your record stays clean, it won't go on record. If you get court supervision, fail, you will get fined. Probably heavily.

Thing is you might get a bad judge and he might issue a high fine and suspension. In that case I would recommend you ask for a continuance. That means you want to postpone your trial so you can get an attorney. A solid attorney should have to problem getting the ticket off your record if you don't mind paying between $200-300.

Ain't that the truth. Constant construction which causes speed zones and which never gets finished and when it does new ones start. Recently they changed a road by my house that was two lane and 45 MPH to three lanes and... 35 MPH. Nice.

Yep that is why I am so glad I live in the new england area now. Growing up in Chicago.....I swear they worked on the Dan Ryan every year of my life when I was growing up. When I was in my early 20s and moved to northwest Indiana, they were STILL working on the Dan Ryan.

Hell when I was moving to the northeast, they were STILL WORKING ON THE SAME EXPRESSWAY ALONG WITH THE BORMAN for the past 8 years at least for the Borman. But the Dan Ryan I swear they must have been working on that mofo for 31 years straight.

Then they be working on the Kennedy a lot too, like every other year. About the only one they don't be working on every year is the Eisenhower.

But up here where I live up now........TRAFFIC IS NON EXISTENT. I swear I can get on the road maybe see 3 or 4 cars on the road. Get on the highway, take about 5 miles before I come across another car. But then the speed limit is much higher here too.

Can do 70 with no problems at all. Hell if you in a convoy of 4 cars or 6 cars, if all is doing 80mph, nobody gets a ticket, because the cops up here say hey you going with the flow of cars around you.

I kid you not last Friday, I was doing 85mph along with 5 other cars. We drove past 4 state troopers, not a problem. I mean hell the only time I even come across some what of traffic is when I get within 20 miles of Albany, NY. But in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, western half of Mass......very little to no traffic at all.

                Thanks for the link.

Yea, the thing is, after I got pulled over I saw a speed limit sign that said 35 not even a half mile from where he stopped me at. And it was on the same road in the same type of area. Then it changes to 45 another 3/4 mile further.

It just sucks having 2 tickets now within a 5 month period, both which are speeding. The last ticket I got before those 2 was in 2006.

They're always working man like you mentioned. Opening lanes, closing other lanes and reopening. A never ending cycle. Plus IL tax money goes straight into those new iPass gates. Citizens paying money for technology to even pay for more money. The whole situation is laughable but that's for another topic.

That court thing seems pretty nice really. If you can go 4 months without anything, everything gets dropped.

Almost like probation with possible expungement. If you complete probation with no problems, you can get it expunged off your record.
