Best way to get rid of a wart

I have a wart on my finger that is pretty annoying and I want to get rid of it. My insurance won't cover to get it removed since it's a cosmetic surgery(I think they only cover genital haha)

What is a easy way to get rid of it? Never had one before, really random.

I had a wart too, but I tried many over the counter stuff like those acid bandaids, but they didn't work. I also tried duct tape, but that didn't work. I ended up going to the doctor and they applied some ointment on it which will form a blister around it. All I had to do was pop the blister the next morning and wipe off the fluids and the wart disappeared. They just had to scrape off the dead skin.

Everyone is different. I never had one until a few months ago. I tried all the home remedies, like cider vinegar, duct tape, etc. Didn't work. Then I tried the over-the-counter freeze tips from Dr Scholls. That didn't work either. I tried the salicylic acid bandages from Dr Scholls and it started to eat away at the skin. At this point it was only maintaining the wart from getting any bigger, so then I tried CompoundW liquid, which also uses a concentrated amount of salicylic acid. This hurt like a MFer but it was more effective than the bandages. Scrape away at the dead skin resulting from the meds, reapply the liquid, cover it with duct tape... rinse, repeat, it was good to go. I also used the freeze tips once or twice during the whole process. They warn against combining medications due to potential scarring, but at this point I would rather have had a scar than a wart. Anyway, just remember to scrape away all the dead skin, no matter how much it bleeds or how gross it is to feel like you're removing your own flesh, because the medications have little effect if they are just used on dead skin.

I used to have one on my foot and I used liquid nitrogen every night until it went away.

Thats correct. Applying home remedies or any medication to dead skin will get you zero results. Remove the dead skin, until you bleed and then apply medications/home remedies. I've removed a lot of warts working as a Corpsman in the Navy and the first thing you do is clean the area, use a small blade to remove the dead skin and then apply liquid nitrogen.

You probably don't have access to liquid nitrogen lol, but you can use OTC meds like Dr. Scholls. Just remember to keep the area clean.

was about to post something similar.

If the wart is "closed" you're not going to remove it by applying medicines. You need to open it up and I used the Dr.Scholl's freeze away tips, or whatever they are called.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

ah wtf I should have just paid whatever it would have been to get it removed. I actually have two and one of them in on my ring fingertip, so I don't want to deal with weeks of having a blister and no skin on my fingertip. Guess I'll just deal with it.

Yeah the procedure to actually remove the warts is very quick. I'm not sure how much it would of been. But going once doesn't guarantee it would of been removed. We had some patients who came back 3 or 4 times.

I had a horrible experience with warts that covered my whole right hand and thankfully I am left handed though. Posting a picture of it would probably get me banned, heh.I tried duct tape but it didn't really do anything and the doctor said there were too many to try a cold treatment, so I let it take it's course and they eventually faded. It was embarrassing because my hand looked freakish and it hurt to use it to handle things. Just be thankful you have only one wart.

If I have another one pop up I am going straight to the dermatalogist. I have had both for most of the year and kept putting off getting it treated.

Aside from surgical removal, I don't think a doctor will do anything that much more efficient or instant than the OTC stuff. I went to see my primary physician, and he referred me to a dermatologist but told me that they would likely just use OTC methods like liquid nitrogen, just slightly stronger.

Have you tried the OTC stuff? They are expensive but I guarantee nowhere near as much as you'll pay at a dermatologist.

The cold treatment hurts like a mf'er. I'd avoid it at all costs.

Then again, they basically drilled a hole in my foot to get the things out, so that could be why.

i had one on the palm of my hand for like 2 months. I ended up just ripping the little twigs out with tweezers which left a bloody hole in my palm. Then I cleaned it with sanitizer. Ended up going away about a couple days later.

Yeah it does hurt but it works the best. It hurts because it's live tissue they are freezing. It burns like hell.

Lol, nothing beats a home medical procedure! With copays & all the insurance bullsh!t going to the DR to have that done would cost me $100+, I like your method much better. Nothing wrong with a bloody hole wait what?

I had one on my finger about 10 years ago. It was a bastard to get rid of. I tired all the OTC stuff & it all hurt like a mf'er & didn't make it go away. I then cut the thing out myself but it reappeared a week later, but was a lot smaller. I ended up finding some herbal type oil that I applied 4 or 5 times a day, it dried it out in about a week, and I haven't had a problem since then, knock on wood.
