From your list as a kid in Vermont we had:

McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, KFC, Pizza Hut, Little Caesar, Dominos, Subway

When I was in HS Taco Bell first came to Vermont.

I've never eaten at any of these: Popeyes, Churches, Checkers, or White Castle.

For local places we had and still have Friendly's (don't think it is outside of the Northeast) and Al's French Fries (best fast food in VT, possibly New England).

I had none of those places in the town I grew up in when I was a kid, except for a random KFC. Then McDonalds and Subway came to town when I was closer to high school. The Subway eventually went out of business, but now it's back again I guess. Then they put a Taco Bell within the KFC, but now it's back to just a KFC.

We always had a local place (still there) called Beef-a-Roo that served McDonald's type stuff, only it was good. Their cheddar fries are a must-buy when I'm back visiting.

Oh Friendly's was the 1st place I seen when I moved to Vermont. Their food is AWLFUL. My wife grew up in Vermont and she said the original people don't work there anymore, neither do their kids, so it has went down hill ever since.

When I was in hmmmm college in Chicago that is when Chill's, Red Robins, Applebee's started popping up. None of them are on the west side of Chicago though, well not since I last been to Chicago none of them were on the west side.

Funny thing about the neighborhood in Chicago is that during the 1900s to the 1950s that neighborhood was all italian and jewish and was one of the richest neighborhoods in Chicago.

Al Capone lived out there, Frank Lloyd Wright lived out there, Ernest Hemmingway was born and raised there. But it was like came the late 1950s all the jewish and italian people moved out and closer to downtown chicago.

Came mid 1960s that whole area turned black, but it was still one of the wealthest neighborhoods in Chicago until the mid 1970s when the Mayor of Chicago put an economic blockade on that neighborhood. When that happened.....the difference was like night and day.

However within the past 10 years they have rebuilt that neighborhood back up though. It is diverse once again, for the 1st time in 30 years actually. Got condos, coffee shops and everything now.

Growing up when I was like 5-12 yrs old my parents would get Popeyes for dinner every once in a while instead of Pizza Night, but they switched to things like Cajun French fries, and as Kids, we didn't like it. we wanted regular fries so that ended. My dad would on occasion get us Burger King for Lunch on like a Saturday cause he thought Burger King was netter than McDonalds ("McDonalds is crap we don't eat that in this house. Burger Kings makes fresh food"). For the most part if we got anything "out" it was a sandwhich from the deli down the street which as a kid sucked cause I wanted some micki D's lol and here I am eating this giant sub where when you bite one end everything falls out the back lol.

As a grown person, now a days, I might grab subway every once in a while and eat Pizza every now and again but I dont have the stomach for most fast food.

LOL my Dad was the same way. He use to say McDonalds is CRAP ! I'm not paying money for a whole bunch of bread and little meat. So therefore we ate Burger King 95% of the time when had a taste for hamburgers. The other times we went to Viennas for a steak burger, which was FLAME.

And cajun fries is FLAME. That is the best thing about Popeyes and Checkers was their cajun fries. Man put some nacho cheese on some cajun fries and it is a party going on in your mouth. mmmmmmmmm

I remember when my cousin worked at Checkers and was a closer, he would bring home all those left over cajun fries......man we use to meet up at midnight and be munching on some cajun fries while playing Madden deciding on what chick we should call to hook up with later on that night.

Those were the days......fun times.

There was a McDonalds, Taco Bell, and Subway less than a quarter mile from my childhood home, so at least those.

Really though? Everything. I was a fat kid, and I have the appetite of a 400lb-er now.

in philly growing up we had

Mcdonalds
burger king - my favorite place
churches
kfc
pizza hut ,but had to travel
then checkers open up
popeyes-had to travel
that's it in philly there are mad neighborhood stores so you could get almost anything to eat.

one thing that has always bugged me bout churches and kfc is that they took off there spicy chicken. for just crispy. i had popeyes the other day and it wasn't even that spicy.

KFC up north still have spicey....along with crispy, grill and regular. Never was a fan of Churches, other then their okra. Over all I always felt Churches food was way greasey as though they didn't even attempt to drain their food.

dude, when I was in the Army I went to a school in Missouri, The PX had a churches in it, me and the wife went through a Churches' phase at that point. Something about their biscuits, we loved it. Ive never seen a churches after that though.

Age 0-10: Would have McDonald's or Burger King once a week probably
Age 11-15: Very occasional McDonald's or Chick-Fil-A. Family ordered pizza from Domino's once every 3 weeks probably.
Age 16-18: Wendy's once a week. Chic-Fil-A once a week maybe.
Age 18-22 (college): Subway a couple times per week. McDonald's/Wendy's/Chic-Fil-A/Cookout/Hardees combined twice a week probably.
Now: Pretty much none. Occasional subway, but mostly Harris Teeter subs or home cooked meals.

Best fast foodish place here is, Five Guys Burgers and Fries. It just got here a year or two ago, but those fries are amazing, and the burgers are all customizable. It's really cool.

We have the regular stuff here though, Taco Bell, BK, McD's, Wendy's, Subway, Quiznos, KFC, Dominoes, Pizza Hut, Papa Ginos, Papa Johns and of course Friendly's.

I gotta disagree with what someone said before, about Friendly's. The food is actually pretty good sometimes. The service is horrendous though. I had to wait 5 minutes for a little bowl of mayo for my burger. I was about to choke a *****, literally.

I wish we had an Arby's and a White Castle. Had them both, and would definitely love having them within driving distance.

Oh snap they got a Five Guys in Mass now ? I use to eat at that place down in Virginia, those Burgers are HUGE.

On a side note......I just came back from KFC LOL. Bought some wings, popcorn chicken, some snackers, potato wedges and coleslaw. Was like honey you don't have to cook dinner tonight we eating KFC LOL.

Damn near every grocery store in the midwest has a Churches in it, it seems. Matter of fact I haven't seen a stand alone Churches in years.
