Absinthe

Has anybody ever drank any Absinthe before?. My friend wants me to ride with him soon and pick us up some for a party.

Is it alot different then regular liquor?

Also if anybody has bought any before do you know about how much it runs?.

And really just any details you can tell me about since i dont no much about it. Thanks guys.

Pretty sure the real stuff (containing wormwood) is illegal here.

I'm not sure where you're buying it, but if it's at a liquor store, it will not be authentic.

Im sure its more of a tone down version of it but my friend said it became legal in the U.S. in 07

Yeah, looks like a brand was given the go-ahead in '07.

I'd like to try it some time, but I think the supposed effects are greatly over-hyped.

Haha, drink it the real way if you're gonna bother... don't do shots of it.

And yeah, the psychoactive properties are severely overstated from everything that I've heard. I've not tried it myself, but to a man, everyone said it was just a little more boozy-feeling than most things but they were never tripping balls or anything...

I've seen a few brands of absinthe at the local liquor store... It's kind of pricey, and I know it's not the real thing, but is the toned down version anything special?

I have had about 4 consecutive shots of the real thing and I did not think it was anything special. Sure it got me drunk but it did not feel different than any other buzz I ever had.

The version sold in the states does not compare.

Although it's effects can be overstated, it's got a very strong, clear headed impact, that's different from other liquors.

There are various "flavors" made aside from the traditional version, and there are variations made for a number of specific cocktails.

i had the real thing had to cut it with water and i didn't need much i wasn't like i was really drunk, but it was weird like i saw you talking, but it took a little time to understand what you said, it was like a foggy feeling , once you drink regular liquor your drunkness is more intense, but it wasn't like i saw cloud with a vein and it was bleeding or anything like that.

I did a shot once at a bar that was equipped for it (dripping system, etc)...tasted like crap (I am not a fan of black licorice) and wasn't any different than other alcohol.

Granted I didn't expect something crazy with just one shot, but not something I'll seek out again.

Yeah tastes like licorice at first, but get some rootbeer to mix it with...damn good!
