Do you wash your hands after using the Restroom?

I work in a pretty large office building and often times when I use the restroom, I am not alone. Over the course of a few years my co-workers have noticed that there are several people that refuse to wash their hands after doing their business. We both find it pretty gross and are glad that we aren't in a position to shake hands with these guys.

Personally, I wash every time regardless of what I just finished doing. I figure it's the least I can do for others I may come across.

My reasoning is this, with a #2, it's obvious. With a #1, would you want to shake hands with someone who just stuck their hands down their pants to adjust themselves or scratch an itch?

For any of those that don't wash, why?

But then you think. "I just washed my hands, that guy didn't, so when I touched the door handle, I just got his urine on my hands"

So, I usually go back to my office and use Purell or Germ X, because of this.

I wash. It's pretty disgusting to see someone who doesn't.

Not just because they just touched themselves, but I don't think they realize they're touching a lot of other things in the bathroom that other men who haven't washed have also touched.

Hell, I use one of those mini alcohol gels after using a public keyboard.

People don't realize the sort of things they get on their hands. You're not just protecting others from your germs, you're also protecting yourself from all the germs you've gotten on your hands from other people touching the stuff you just touched.

Always - and I'm not even one of those people who cares that much about their appearance. As Timmay said, for me it's more about looking out for number one.

              Literally as well as Figuratively.

Always, though I wonder how many of us are being truthful. I hate those guys that take a leak and shake it more than three times. Now you're just playing with it.

Yeah, and that also kills your resistance to viruses... being in an anti-biotic bubble is not a good thing. I understand the concern, but really, most things are harmless or in such small quanities that it only strengthens your immune system to come into contact and then fight them off.

But yeah, I always wash when I'm at work or somewhere where I will be in contact with others just out of common courtesy as opposed to a concerb about actual cleanliness. If I'm waking up in the middle of the night to take a whiz, I'm not washing my hands. Generally if I'm home, I don't wash my hands after #1, but I always do after #2 regardless of where I am.

Honestly, keyboards are way more nasty than someone going to the bathroom and not washing your hands.

OS'ers, turn your work keyboards upside down and watch all the nasty crap fall out.

I wash my hands, usually more of a rinse though. I manage to pee and not piss all over my hands, so a deep scrubbing isn't necessary. I'm more of the mindset that touching doorknobs, keyboards, car handles, etc are way worse than anything on my junk.

Wow... I was just going to post almost the exact same thing. I wash my hands at work everytime, but I'm not one to use lotions and crap because I'm afraid of every little germ. Your body does need some exposure to keep your immune system working. I never get sick and I never use the hand lotions. I don't shy away from people that sneeze of cough or anything either. I especially hate when guys get so anal they won't touch the restroom door handle and leave paper towels on it (and sometime on the sink handles, too).

At home, I'm a little more laxed. If I'm going to eat or I have people visiting, I wash, but I don't wash after EVERY #1 at home. To paraphrase George Carlin - It's just my ____. If I have to wash my hands after every time I touch it, maybe I should be taking it out and giving that a good scrub instead.

Washing your hands after you go to the bathroom doesn't kill your resistance to viruses. You still have a lot of bacteria on your hands after washing with soap; but it kills a lot of them, and a lot of the bad ones.

Overuse of anti-bacterial products certainly does cause problems, because you need some of the bacteria living on you; but I never said anything about constantly using such products.

And I never said anything about being an anti-biotic bubble - don't be so dramatic.
