    Some College Advice

Hey guys I'm a freshman in college, and I need some help.

I'm not so sure I want to do this college routine. All it is is power points and simple ish. I don't know if this is just a form of home sickness or things of that nature, but I feel like I could do great without it.

I want to know if anybody has some similar experience and what you guys did it.

My plan as of now is to give it the rest of the school year and see how I feel them, but it's only been getting progressively worse(for lack of a better word) Yes I'll talk to my family and all that, I'm just confused. At the same time I'm pretty convinced I don't need this and it's not for me.

Your a freshman, be glad you go to a school where it is simple ish. My school was all accelerated classes. Don't worry come next semester it won't be simple stuff and come sophmore year you will be grinding.

      Re: Some College Advice

You are young and have a lot of decisions ahead of you. College can be a great experience, but it's not for everyone. As you get out of high school, I think it's important you begin to take on more responsibility in life. For some, that may involve going to college. For others, it may be getting their feet wet in a more elaborate job experience and operating in that.

They key is to make sure you are in a position to genuinely grow as a person. I'm not saying become a stiff, but the development of a responsible life is important. Many think college equals that, but the college scene can be quite juvenile. There are disciplines of life that need be in place for anyone who sincerely wants to broaden their horizons and be successful. Taking on life responsibilites can make you into a better person.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

        Stick with it

The first year of college is more about surviving without mommy and daddy and figuring out what you aren't interested in than anything else.

College gets much better as you go on. Your classes will go from 300 person power point presentations on classes you're required to take to (assuming you go to even a decent school) small classes you're interested in with professors who are actually knowledgeable.

The biggest thing I would advise is not to talk to anyone from home aside from your parents.

          What cebby said.

If you're a fish I assume you are having to take pointless classes where you basically relearn what you were supposed to be taught in HS that have zero to do with your major.

Use this time to learn how to study better, because a couple years down the road you will actually have classes that matter and that you want to make in A in because you have to know the material and not just have an A that looks good on paper, but you will never use the knowledge.

Go and dont think twice. I thought like you did, now I wish I had gone to college. If its easy be happy because it wont stay that way long. Could say soooo much more but its really just simple..... GO.

Stick with it. First year classes are boring and most of them serve as weed out classes. Junior and Senior year is where you get to enjoy your classes. Also, a B.S. degree is pretty much the high school diploma of 15-20 years ago. You need it just to have a shot at a decent job.

You'll make things really tough on yourself if you don't have a college diploma.

Pretty much what everyone else has said. Freshman year is basically for getting your feet wet and getting acclimated to college life. Sophomore year is when you begin honing in on what you want to study Junior and Senior year are when you get most of the work and the hardest classes. If you continue to feel like you're not getting anything then don't be afraid to talk to your academic advisor. They are there to help guide you on the right path to your degree. It's also quite common for students not to decide on a major until the end of their sophomore year so don't worry about not knowing what you want to do just yet.

                  - Don't get in the habit of missing classes. If you must miss a class for a good reason, make sure you know someone you can get notes from.

                  - Don't get in a relationship unless you REALLY believe she might be the one for u.

                  - Network!

                  Be frugal

                  - Have fun, but be responsible

This! Stay away from CC, I had a friend who just got out of college CC debt and he graduated 7 years ago.

I remember when I was in the Army and I was home sick like you would not believe. It was like my first week with my Unit, I was getting my balls smoked Every single day, all day long, and since I was new and a FNG i did not have alot of friends.

But like with college, if you just keep on plugging along, you will be fine. I would get involved with some school activities, meet some girls, and you will love your time in college. The First year is always the hardest, but it is also very important because it is your foundation for the rest of your time in college.

If you feel it's really simple, make sure you don't use that as an excuse to slack off and not get your work done. Try to get a nice GPA going freshman year so you have something to build off of because it won't be simple all 4 years. I jerked around a lot my freshman year and now have to play catch-up because of it.

Aside from that, enjoy yourself while you're there. College is much more than just power point presentations and mindless note-taking. Make friends, hang out, get the full experience! After being in college for a few months, I couldn't even bear being at home for more than a weekend.

Yep. If you went to public school, it was on the state's dime. College is on your money. Nobody is going to baby you to get you through the classes.

Your first year will be like that, especially if your taking essential studies courses.
Once you get further along, you'll take more specialized classes for your major where you're actually doing something as opposed to these lecture-based classes.
                              Stick with it, man.

And I totally agree on avoiding credit cards.
