32 Best Calls in Sportscasting History

    Arguments?

#1 was obvious, to me anyways, but if it wasn't #1 I would've rioted.

Hmm I would've put Scully's call of Kirk Gibson's HR a little higher but overall that's a pretty good list. Nice to see hockey calls from an American sports writer.

What you don't think Americans appreciate a good MLS game?

Not a final, but it did keep them in the tournament (even a 2-1 win would have seen them eliminated), which they eventually won.

Not sure where that would fit on the list, but I think it's at least better than the first one.

It's rumored that on the 2 big HR calls by Scully(715 and Gibson), he does the initial call then goes and gets a cup of coffee. Brilliant IMO.

Randy Hahn should be up there. Especially his call on Thornton's goal in game 4 in the 2008 Western Conference Quarterfinals.

Personally, I like the Gerrard call in the FA Cup Final against West Ham better.

And as for the list. Jack Buck's call of Puckett's home run should have been a bit higher. And the fact that they put his douche son's call of the Ortiz homer(which wasn't even original) ahead of it is a travesty.

The only list of announcing Joe Buck should be on is the top use of uncalled-for drama. (See calling the Moss fake moon "disgusting" as if he had actually mooned the crowd.)

lol, most of these are phrases said everyday in sports in an excided voice

                      "havlicek stole the ball"

well no ish announcer, what I want to know is if at any point in the game was he breathing air

I'm still convinced he thought Moss had actually mooned the crowd and that's why he reacted the way he did.

I could be wrong, but it makes sense. To me at least.

I really like Cosell's calling of the Foreman/Frasier fight. That's my number one.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

i'm quite partial to this call. If some of those were on the list solely for emotion alone, i don't see how did get shut out

I watch a little here and there when i'm absolutely bored out of my mind. TFC has been a massive disappointment. There's talk that when Vancouver enters the league that they'll automatically be the best team in Canada which is shocking considering TFC has been in MLS for 4 years now.
