    my mom might be right

She says I have symptoms showing that I'm depressed, I always said I'm not and I honestly thought it. But to find myself sitting here in the dark tearing up every 5 minutes, she might be right.

I don't really know much about psychology or what you should do, but I think that realizing that you have a problem (assuming it's a problem) is the first step to helping yourself.

Talk to your mom, talk to a friend, seek for help. Don't be ashamed of asking for help.

Go to your doctor and they can get you in the right direction. What you can do is go to what you really like to do what ever that is. Sometimes that can get you going. If that does't work go see your doctor.

Just recently got a job as a security guard(start on the 26th) I'm hoping this will help at least some.

Go to the doctor. Depression can often be a chemical imbalance, and too many people try to find fixes outside of the medical help they need.

Suck up your pride bud and go talk to a professional. It takes a much bigger man to do something like that, than it does the guy who tries (and usually fails) to fix this stuff on his own.

I've seen too many friends succumb to depression. Go to a doctor.

I can't overstate the havoc depression wreaks if you are depressed...I also can't overstate the value of a Doctor, or Psychologist in this. There's no shame in needing treatment for a something your body doesn't make enough of, or too much, or whatever it is. There's a stigma around depression that makes me mad. That's like feeling guilty for drinking water when thirsty. Get help, my man...if you need more info, PM me, I'll find you some

Exactly Ryan. I had to go to a doctor, and subsequently therapy sessions, for what ended up being diagnosed as OCD. Had I not done this, it would have gotten completely out of control, and nothing I did to try and fix it myself worked.

There's no shame in getting help, especially with stuff like this that is essentially out of one's hands.

Like others have said, go see a doctor. There is a stigma when it comes to seeking mental health treatment, but seek help. If you don't your situation will only get worse.

I'm a psychiatric techician in the Navy so if you have any questions or anything pm me and I can give you advice and point you in the right direction.

Re: my mom might be right

Honestly the fact you think she might be right, and the fact you posted a thread about it, IMO means you are already heading the right direction. Usually the hardest step is admiting you have a problem and then facing it. Seems like you are well on your way to getting through that step.

FYI this is a problem many people are facing. The biggest issue is that not enough people admit they have a problem so people are not getting the help they need. Denial leads to more problems.

Alot of times also depression happens when you allow things on the outside to get inside and addect you.

YHave you been dealing with something hurtful or some things you feel are out of your control?
