    Paintball?

Any of you guys do paintball? There's some of us at work that want to get together and start doing it. I've never done it, but it always seemed like something that would be really fun. What would be a good gun to start out with? Tips would also be appreciated.

I'll sell you my Tippman 95 Custom for real cheap.

Really, though, the Tippman 95 was a damn good gun for me to start out with. Easy to use, not too big or powerful, etc. If my memory serves me right, my friend bought a "Spyder" that was also pretty badass as his first gun.

Tips wise...get shot quickly. Seems counter-productive, but really...get the first few shots out of the way so you know how it feels. Why? So you don't end up like me:

First time I went out to a paintball outdoor arena, we were playing a Capture the Flag match. This older guy on my team says: "I'll cover you, run up and grab the flag, try and get it down from the hill." So, being the young kid I was that wanted to impress the badass guy with the awesome gun...I ****ing charge right up the hill. Little did I, or the guy who told me to go, know there was a little trench halfway up the hill. I get there, three guys stand up and about five seconds of getting shot later I rolled back down the hill in a **** load of pain.

My unknown teammate did apologize for sending me there ("**** kid, sorry about that. Looked like it hurt.") but **** I was unprepared for how painful the upclose shots felt.

The first time I went paintballing I shot myself in the ****ing hand. I was putting on the barrel cap (rental) and I don't know how I did it, but I managed to pull the trigger somehow. **** that man.

Community made it look like a ton of fun.

Make sure you get one of those Ken Jeong style paint bombs.

Where's a good place to order paintball stuff?

A guy brought his paintball gun to work yesterday which his father had given him because he wasn't using it. Not sure exactly how many paintballs it shoots per second, but that thing was pretty damn sweet.

I would start off just renting a gun from the place.

I went this summer and it was a lot of fun. The only bad thing about doing it in the summer is that you pretty much have to wear pants and long sleeve shirts and I was sweating like crazy.

You live in the DC/MD/VA area right?

What place are you guys gonna go?

Not sure, yet. There's a place in Strasburg that sounds pretty fun. We've mostly just talked about getting together and going to the woods or somewhere like that because I know a couple of them have property.

I used to have Tippman 98 Custom. We used to play like every weekend when I was in high school. I havent played in probably like 5 years though. Just gave my old gun to my neighbors kid cause he was getting into paintball. It is a lot of fun.

Tippman's are pretty good first guns I would say. Not super expensive, but not so cheap it breaks after you use it once.

I used to play a lot when I was around 15 or so. It's an expensive hobby, so I had to get out of it as I got older and got a job. My uncles still play and I'm sure I still have a lot of equipment laying around somewhere.

                    Re: Paintball?

Paint is gonna get costly. I know the park here allows field paint only because they had a big problem with people bring in paint that cost $10 for 2,000 and it left black smudge all over the park after the color washed away.

I would say be prepared to pay over $50 per trip to the park.

There is a really nice park in my hometown so I always enjoyed it and it was worth going once a month. I have a gun that look like an A5 assault rifle and I set it to shot at 295 fps (limit it 300) so it was better then the rental games.

Ha, the speeds on the paintball ARs are ridiculous.
