Re: HS Football Hazers Use Pellet Gun on Rookies

I was never a big fan of hazing in my own personal experiences. I can respect the feelings of those who never had any problem being hazed and felt it brought them closer to the team. That was never me though. There were some hazing attempts by upperclassmen when I first came through the ranks as a freshmen but I wouldn't stand for any of it. I was completely stubborn and potentially violent. Everyone seemed to pick up on the vibe that it wasn't a "he's resisisting, let's haze him harder!" situation but rather a "okay, seriously, maybe we should just let him be" type of thing. It all worked out and we were richer for the experience.

Likewise, as an upperclassman, I never considered hazing newcomers. There were too many other ways to build bonds that didn't involve ridiculous and/or demeaning approaches.

The only thing I remember in high school happening was one of the seniors, when I was a junior, pissing in a sophomore's football locker. That was the extent of anything happening in high school.

College was another story. We had a big tradition at our school on the football team that involved "hazing", I guess you could call it. It wasn't too bad, especially if you were a drinker.
