    Most embarrassing sports moment ever?

Reading the greatest sports moment ever, I figured there were some of us who had some funny moments and were not all-state in every sport we played.

I remember in 9th grade football I was a kick returner. It went to the other KR on the left and we were returning it right. I lead out in front of him then saw I guy come from his left back side. I peeled back expecting to light this guy up not realizing he had 2 inches and probably 25 pounds on me. I made a textbook block, but some how I ended up flying through the air and landing on my back while he kept on running. Pretty sure everyone in the stands noticed it and even 6 years later my barber who was the PA guy still gives me crap for it.

    *Embarrassing*

For me it was my last season of little league, losing every game by the ten run mercy rule, and being the only person to give a ****, resulting in me being scolded by my parents as I went on a profanity laden tirade during the last game wondering why the hell no one cared about our laughing stock status.

Not mine but this is the greatest I've seen. In a high school basketball game we ended up being thin at the end of the game because of injuries/foul trouble. So we had a kid on the floor that barely saw any time. On a possession there ended up being three straight offensive rebounds for the other team. The fourth rebound was by the new kid and instead of turning and pushing the ball he shot around a 15 footer into our own basket... and made it. A shame I didn't go to HS during the YT era.

Due to physical limitations, I was unable to play sports in high school, though I did see a few incidents similar to Ollie and Altimus.

I was at one of our football games one of their players had broken into the open field and was racing towards the endzone (forget if it was a kick return or not) and one of our guys got in front of him only to get totally steamrolled.

Another time when I was the equipment manager for the 9th grade basketball team, one of our guys took the opening tip and ran to our own basket and did a layup. Fortunately it missed though I think we still got killed in that game. Also, the kid was one of our best players.

Had to be getting a technical foul in summer league hoops when I told a ref to get a life after an impossibly bad call on myself. Not so much picking up the T, but the T was also my 5th personal foul and I fouled out on that play.

In back to back years I gave up 8 runs in our conference championship tournament and in both years we were eliminated. Luckily, the second year, we received an at-large birth to the regionals.

When I was 16 playing American Legion, I was put in to pinch run and was the tying run in the second to last inning. There were no outs and the next batter bunted. I tried to go 1st to 3rd as the 3rd baseman charged the bunt, but the pitcher fielded and threw to first and the third baseman quickly retreated back to the bag. I wasn't halfway to third when he got the ball back from the first baseman and was an easy out. Stupidest baserunning mistake I ever made. Killed our rally and we ended up losing by one.

When I was 12 in little league we were playing the best team in the league and held a one run lead in the last inning. The leadoff hitter hit a come backer to me and isntead of throwing to first, I tried to beat him. He beat me to the bag and ended up scoring and they ended up taking the lead that game.

Layup line before a 7th grade basketball game. Crowd has filed in, game will start shortly. One of my friends pantses me in front of the whole crowd. That. Sucked.

I had the exact same thing happen.

When I was about 13 playing AAU baseball, I was playing CF during a rainy game. Well after fielding a ground ball I proceed to throw the ball about 15 feet behind me. Yeah never stopped hearing about that one.

Also I got a kick out of the thread title. Didnt catch it till I was actually responding.

I'm trying to find one that I saw on the local news the other day that literally made me laugh and rewind, laugh and repeat. Kid couldn't handle a snap for the punt, as it sailed over his head. He went to go pick it up, and right as he touched the ball, he looked up only to see 4 linesmen coming his way. As he was pummeled by the defense, I couldn't help but laugh hysterically.

For my personal experience, I wasn't the "embarrassed" however I did play a part in it. We were playing the #1 team in the state my Sr. year in HS, and we were within 5 points at the half. First possession, the ball was knocked out of bounds near half court, our ball. Ball was being denied to me, so our Center came up and received the inbounds pass in the backcourt. Dude took off dribbling towards the other teams basket. Luckily I realized that he thought he was on a fast break all by himself, and ran up and blocked him, pinned the ball against the glass. We got the 10 second backcourt call, but at least I saved the 2 points...

                  Oh, and we lost... badly.

Well my baseball team never won a game in 4th grade lol.

Also in 6th during football, I almost had my first touchdown on a fumble recovery. I ran it 69 yards only to be tackled at the two. I got caught because I didn't know the rules too well as it was my first year playing, I thought that you had to have your mouthpiece in the whole play or it was a penalty. Wehn I went to pick up the fuble after the QB got sacked my mouthpiece(which was attached to my facemask) fell out of my mouth because I got excited. Since I didn't know the rule completely, I was trying to get it back in and no one knew what I was doing. I get back to the sideline and everybody thought I was eating something midplay. Took me about 30 or 35 yards to get the mouth piece back in.

Freshman year of high school. We were doing dribbling drills in PE. You had to dribble as fast as you can from the baseline to half court, go around a chair and dribble back. Girls were sitting on the bleachers watching. I'm thinking this is my time to shine. I was fast getting to the chair and somehow lost control and fell down. Not only that, I was looking around trying to find the ball....the stationary chair stole the ball from me.

LOL GC. I don't know why, but that just made me remember something that happened when I was in 5th grade. I was at some kind of activity night at the school gym and we were playing kickball. I was pitching and at one point somehow got disoriented and pitched the ball to 2nd base instead of home. I think I was getting a little overheated plus I was still experiencing occasional dizzy spells after having major ear surgery a month or so earlier.

Freshman year baseball I had a game where I had 8 ground balls hit to me at third base. 5 throwing errors, 1 fielding error, 1 that the 2nd baseman dropped my throw as I tried to start the double play, and 1 play that we actually executed correctly. I forget how many at bats I had, but definitely didn't have any hits. Just nothing could go right for me or the entire team, we lost like 20-2 or something. Our team went 10-6 and had already beaten them once, and I only made one error in our other 15 games. Just one horrible day.

Little league in pregame warmups I lost a ball in the sun and it hit me in the head.

                              - While playing JV baseball and playing 3rd base, there was a popup right to me. There was 2 outs with a runner on 2nd. I completely botched it, it didn't even touch my glove and it bounced super high and I caught it on the first bounce to try and get the runner who was going home. I fired a strike to home plate.. only the catcher wasn't there. Ball out of play and another run scored (I guess there was a runner on first or something, I don't really remember).

                              - I was on first in a garbage game at the end of the JV baseball season, and the pitcher (lefty) did one of those step-off moves (baseball players know what I'm talking about) and it caught me off guard because I'm a big dude and I NEVER draw a throw so it was like "Oh ****!" and on my way back to the base, I rolled my ankle (just like how Ryan Howard rolled his on 2nd) and the action of me rolling it made me fall off the base. Only then was I tagged out and promptly had to be carried off the field because my ankle was so torn up

                              - In warm ups for a Legion game, I was walking back to the dugout after warming my arm up. I was walking behind other guys getting warmed up and out of nowhere I get hit in the neck by a ball and got leveled. There was a huge crowd around me with people going "Oh ****, get an ambulance" and stuff like that and I just popped up like nothing happened. It didn't really hurt that bad since it hit me right in the meat of my neck, but it left a gigantic welt that I had to live with for the entirety of the game and the next few days
