    Re: Non-gaming Hobbies?

I like writing ABOUT my sports gaming. I thought about being a sports journalist, but don't know if that lifestyle would fit me. So this keeps me content.

LOVE music. I've always felt I've had a bond with music that ran deeper then most other people, it's always seemed to touch me a lot more then my friends, even my friends who are big into music themselves. I'm still planning on teaching myself how to play guitar someday. Never really played an instrument before.

I'd also say I like reading. I come to these forums for the sports & sports gaming first, but also because of the interaction and different opinions you can get. And it's all read instead of spoken. I think I'm such an open and tolerant person because I've been exposed to a place like this where we have people from every kind of background throwing their opinions on everything from sports to entertainment to whatever else. It's cool.

Honestly, I probably do all of these more than I game. I don't game very much anymore. Probably 30min per week if any. Until COD came out, I went a few months without even turning on my PS3. I've played about 3 hours of COD since then.

Coaching. I coach a Special Olympics basketball team during the winter. We were actually the second best team in our division in the state of Virginia. Besides chasing tail, I guess thats it.

I love to write. I used to write a lot and one of my life goals is to write a book. Maybe it will be about sports, or maybe it will just be a family type book that journals our lives and can be passed down through the generations.

I also love to read. Mostly sports biographies and stuff that deals with history. I'm also into reading crime thrillers. I can burn a whole day reading a book if it catches my attention enough.

Going to live sporting events is a favorite of mine. I share season tickets with my brother (Seahawks). I love going to Qwest Field and taking in a game.

Crazy as it might sound...because it sounds more like work than a hobby...
                But stone work.
When I bought my vacation home...it had a plain concrete foundation....3/4's of which is exposed because my house is on a hill looking down to the lake.
The chimney and stairs leading up to the house were plain brick.
The one car detached garage(now a work shop) was also plain concrete.
I went to a close by quarry in Pennsylvania....ordered some tonnage of field and ledge and blue stone...did a little reading...bought some tools and went to work.
A stone patio(now an extra enclosed room)...the full foundation...chimney ...new stone steps and full stone garage(work shop) later and I'm hooked!

My next project....a way to pave my 400 foot driveway with a combo of blacktop and stone...and a stone pillar entry gate at the top of my driveway entrance.

This and roster work = SANITY for me.

                  Music.

I play a piano, 6/12 string guitar, bass, drums, mandolin, and learning the violin and banjo. I cannot play by note as it's strictly ear but I believe I'm really good (no conceit, by the way)...I'm a person that if you start singing, I'll find the key and start playing with you (and dipping into 7ths, minors, etc.) I can spend hours playing my piano.

A lot of real cool, unique stuff in here. I used to be really into collecting baseball cards but haven't done that since probably elementary school. As it is now, making music is my only hobby outside of the sports gaming stuff. Although I have zero training and still have a lot of learning to do as far as music theory goes, I feel I'm good at what I do.

Here's the latest song I produced and co-wrote (not on the song vocally at all). I'm 99% sure nobody here will be much of a fan of it though because of the style, but hey show it to a younger sister or something lol. Usually I do more hip hop music, but have been wanting to try pop for some time.

2 things. Sports journalism used to be what I wanted to do when I grew up, and although that dream fell to the wayside I feel like writing articles for my franchises and whatnot partially helps me get my "fix" haha.

and one of my resolutions for next year is to teach myself to play guitar.

                                Besides gaming and watching sports.

Playing sports and working out. Mostly basketball and sometimes football, it is by far and away my favorite sport we aren't very organized down here lol.

Draw graffiti sometimes, I'm ok at it...don't do it as much as I used to but, it's a bit of a old forgotten hobby of mine. Not really special or anything, just something I decided to do in high school while listening to a teacher talk.

Kept me awake so why not.
