Bus driver resigns after YouTube video of 'brutal murder' of snowman left in road...

A bus driver has been forced to resign after veering into the wrong lane to flatten a snowman.
The public transit bus can be seen in a YouTube video deliberately crossing on to the wrong side of the road to demolish the sculpture built on a quiet residential road by students.

The incident was filmed on the on the University of Illinois campus in Urbana.

If he wasn't driving on the wrong lane I'd say what's the big deal but yeah....Poor frosty LOL!

Come on, why is the snowman in the middle of the road?

Let's consider that a parent, likely with their child, built that snowman on poor weather conditions where a car could have accidentally hit them.

But, lets instead focus on the bus driver hitting the snowman.

Driver shouldn't have tried to be a snowscraper...fault lies with him. I would assume the employer is firing the driver because he/she was driving on the wrong side of the road intentionally.

The snowman shouldn't of been built there in the first place.

And here's the other thing: in the beginning of that video a car drives by and what does it do? It slows down and has to move over to the extreme side of the road to avoid a snowman.

The thing was a safety hazard. I applaud the bus driver for getting rid of it.

Absolutely. This is ridiculous. The bus driver was doing the right thing. If anyone should be disciplined, it should be the person(s) who put the snowman there.

I heard the snowman leaves behind a wife and 3 little snow balls. Just tragic.

Well, I think the teenagers taking the video probably built the snowman and put it there as a prank. Though I agree with CMH and z revis that the snowman was a safety hazard, buy swerving to the other side of the rode to get rid of it, the bus driver created an additional safety hazard. Road conditions were poor and he could have easily lost control of his bus doing that. He should have called it in to public works or the local police or whoever to take care of it.

It didn't swerve or anything, it moved over and there was no other cars there. It got rid of the saftey hazard and didn't cost the city a thing to send someone else out there and remove. Also no one got into an accident, which would have cost even more in lawsuits to the city.

                            Agreed.

So when he has to go around a car parked on the side of the road... and he crosses in another lane to do so... would he be forced to resign then?

Saying that the bus driver was safe to pull into the wrong lane on the road to hit a snowman because there were no cars is like saying it's ok to run red lights and stop signs if no one is looking. Like Burgh said, from the looks of the video, the conditions of the road were not the best and he could of lost control.
