OS: Help me find a new job

First off - I'm not unemployed, I'm just unhappy with my job. Yes, I know who isn't right? Well, it's not that I'm being underpaid, benefits and healthcare are great - no, I just hate the environment of call center. I work phone/DSL tech support for a national telcom company - and I'm just tired of this career path.

    My questions for OS faithful:

    1. How did you find your career path?
    2. Is there anything out there that is not customer interfacing (phone primarily)?
    3. Any legit work from home jobs? (i've been scammed too many times in the past)

Anyone else feel the same way? I'm not "stuck" by any means. I'm engaged, open to relocation, I'm only 25 - but I need to get to loving what I do.

Well when you find the answer to that question by all means share it here as Ive been in this position for awhile now. Im not in a call center, although Ive done that in the past, but in retail anyways so I can understand what youre saying.

Well......a lot of people end up working at places that they don't love to do. Life happens.

Far as not interacting with customers at any type of level, hell you might as well work at the Post Office, UPS, Fed Ex or a place like that in one of their plants or find some type of factory setting kind of a job.

And umm at home jobs you primarily will still be interacting with people over the phone, even more so because your at home.

        1) I found out as a military vet, all I had to do was pass the postal exam to get in the USPS. Didn't have to worry about getting a high score. I work in the back as a clerk, so I have no public interaction.

        2) don't know, besides what I currently do.

        3) doubtful. To have a real successful home business, usually requires more hard work and long hours than a regular job.Ignore the tv commercials that promise wealth without the work. I don't believe that exists.

        Good luck.

Machine shops, one I worked at I never dealt with customers or phones. Worked the machines and shipping/handling. The only outside person I dealt with was the delivery service guy for parts going to Puerto Rico and the truckers that brought in raw material for me to unload with a forklift.
